The Effects Of Asthma In Pregnancy

Pregnancy is an exciting time in a woman’s life. Changes in your body may be matched by changes in your emotions. You don’t know what to expect from day to day. You may feel tired, uncomfortable, or cranky one day and energetic, healthy, and happy the next. The last thing you need is an asthma attack.

Asthma is one of the most common medical conditions in the US and other developed countries. If you have asthma, you know what it means to have an exacerbation (attack). You may wheeze, cough, or have difficulty breathing. Remember that the fetus (developing baby) in your uterus (womb) depends on the air you breathe for its oxygen. When you have an asthma attack, the fetus may not get enough oxygen. This can put the fetus in great danger.

How To Prevent Migraine Headaches

The first step in preventing a migraine headache is to recognize the symptoms that actually cause the migraine to occur.  One method of doing this is to keep a “headache diary” in which you will record the severity of your attack as well as the foods you consumed during the 24 hours prior to each attack.

Some of the other factors to prevent a migraine are to maintain a regular schedule.  This includes eating your meals at the same time each day and keeping consistent sleep hours seven days a week.

I’ll try to keep a long story short. I’ve been having chronic (daily) headaches and pain in my neck, shoulders and back for about six years. After seeing several doctors I finally found one that is taking me seriously but it seems that he is lost. I’ve tried physical therapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, cortisone injections and a slew of meds. Nothing seems to be working. The only injury I’ve had was a very minor car accident about 11 years ago… I was rear-ended at about 10 miles/hour and had minor whiplash.

Has anyone else had these problems? Any suggestions on what I should try or a possible diagnosis I could research? I’m not a fan of taking random meds “just to see if they work” but that is what my doc has me doing.
I don’t drink soda… i drink two cups of coffee in the morning and caffeine doesn’t make it better or worse. I am on antidepressants… they keep me on an even keel, but don’t help at all with the pain. I guess I should have added “stress management” to my list of treatments too. It’s always bad… whether things are going great or I’m stressed out.
I do use artificial sweeteners in my coffee, but this has been going on since before I started using them… and I do keep the sweeteners to a minimum.

Peppermint – 1 lb

  • Make a cup of tea with 1-2 teaspoons of dried, crushed peppermint leaves. Steep 10 minutes. Great for indigestion, cramps, and other stomach disorders.
  • Awakens, clears and stimulates the mind. Great to use while studying for exams.
  • Because of its decongestant action, Peppermint is a FDA approved remedy for the common cold. The menthol vapors help relieve nasal, sinus and chest congestion.
  • Rubbing peppermint or its essential oil on the forehead and temples will help relieve a headache.
  • Place 1/4 cup of Peppermint in a small muslin bag or large tea ball. Steep while you bathe. Very stimulating to body and mind.

But if you have a chronic headache, your patience will be tested on a long-term basis! Because this type of headache comes with lots of other irritants, each one of them capable of subduing the cheerfulness that is part of your personality just before its arrival!
