4 week migraine? Please help me make it stop!?
Here’s a little background:
I have been struggling with anxiety and depression for a large portion of my life. I was taking effexor, but found the side effects extreme and couldn’t handle it. After several years on this medication I tapered myself off and went cold turkey on no meds thinking the depression had passed. Months later it returned. I am now taking Lexapro (for about 2 weeks) and it seems to be helping with less side effects.
For the last 4 weeks I have been having severe headaches that will not quit. I have been to the ER twice and they ran CT and MRI and found nothing that would cause these and saw my doctor who gave me some drugs that seemed to help for awhile, but didn’t make them go away. I have recently been to a neurologist who diagnosed them as migraines and pretty much eliminated cluster and tension headaches based on my responses to some questions. He has put me on a tapered string of prednisone and gave me a few other drugs besides, but stated that most migraines only last 24-72 hours.
My question would be – does anyone out there have experience with migraines lasting this long? It is making my life and in turn my family’s life very difficult and is tearing us all apart. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions or other opinions as to what this is? Please I need relief! Anybody?!
I don’t have any money for expensive treatment like massage or chiropractory

Usually they do last this long if you haven’t been to a chiropractor.
ask your doctor for some lortab 10 mg med it works great for migranes.
I had one that lasted 3 weeks and ended because I passed out from the pain and my husband took me to the hospital. I was unable to stand or even open my eyes because of the pain. After an IV full of pain meds in the ER that did nothing, the only thing that worked was Tordol (I’m not sure of the spelling on this med, sorry). The migraine would return when the Tordol wore off and the ER doctor finally gave me a prescription for the pill form of Tordol, which is very expensive and wasn’t covered by my insurance but very much worth every penny. If your insurance won’t cover the pill form, you should have the option to go to your doctor for a daily injection until the migraine is over and MOST doctors will not charge you a co-pay just for an injection
