Ophthalmic Migraine?
“spots of light, halos, or zigzag patterns are common symptoms prior to the start of Migraine headaches. An ophthalmic migraine is when you have only visual symptoms without a headache.”
I have been diagnosed with the symptoms of ophthalmic migraines, however, my symptoms are permanent and are not episodic. Does anyone know of any similar cases or where I could even start to look to get evaluated by the right people for this?

You’re looking for a similar case? You found it right here. I am going through exactly what you described and have been experiencing the permanent symptoms for 5 days straight.
Mine started out as the typical migraine w/ intense pain that lasted weeks. After going to the ER and getting testing done to rule out tumors/aneurysms I went to a neurologist and was diagnosed w/ daily chronic headaches/migraines.I was put on a few different daily meds and am taking a combination of vitamin supplements that are supposed to help and luckily they have all been helping to get rid of the headaches.
But 5 days ago,2 days before I even started the meds,I started to get blurry/double vision w/ wavy patterns and gray like splotches at everything I look at.
I tried covering 1 eye and it helped stop the double vision so I wound up having to drive with 1 eye closed for 2 days(I know, sounds pretty insane). Then the other night my symptoms worsened and now I cant even see well through the one eye…pretty much this means I cant drive. This vision issue is something I am dealing with 24/7…it doesnt go away,I guess like you.
It’s making me feel as if I’m losing my independence b/c I have to rely on others to drive me around.
I’m in the same boat as you in not knowing what to do.I actually just discovered the name of it (opthalmic migraine) online today. Most of the people I’ve been talking to online have dealt w/ the aura migraines where the visual disturbances are episodic but I really haven’t found anyone who has had it permanently…you’re the first.Thats why I felt the need to respond to your question.
I’m supposed to be going to see an opthamologist in a few days.Til then,I’m pretty lost.I wish I could further help you and answer your question better, but since I’m currently dealing with the same issue I guess I’m not much help. Also been seeing a neurologist but he has no good advise for me either.
If I find out anything else,I’ll keep you in mind.If you’d like you can email me through this site and maybe we can help each other out. It’s kinda nice knowing I’m not alone.
I really hope you find the answers to what you’re looking for!
Have you seen a eye doctor to be sure that there is nothing else going on? Have you had a MRI, or CAT scan. What meds are you on?
