Acne is an unpleasant condition that affects the majority of people in the world at some time or other in their lives (usually during their teenage years). It is caused by overactive sebaceous glands producing too much sebum (skin oils).Do you suffer from GERD or acid and reflux disease? A good healthy diet for GERD can often cure GERD rather than just suppressing it with medication. Doctors often prescribe medication to prevent the effects of acid and reflux or GERD but the fact is that this medication really doesn’t do anything to cure these problems.

acid and reflux or gastric reflux disease is damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid moving upward into the esophagus. The most typical symptom is heartburn.

Heartburn is the acid and reflux symptom most people recognize. This painful burning sensation occurs in your chest after you eat a big meal or if you lie down after one. Heartburn is the result of stomach acid literally burning its way through your esophagus.

Jeff Martin – certified nutritionist and former heartburn sufferer teaches you his acid reflux freedom step by step success system jam-packed with a valuable information on how to naturally and permanently eliminate your heartburn from the ROOT and achieve LASTING freedom from digestive disorders.

80 percent of heartburn sufferers report symptoms at night. 75 percent of heartburn sufferers say nighttime heartburn awakens them during the night or prevents them from sleeping. 40 percent say that their nighttime heartburn symptoms affects their ability to work the next day.

When food is swallowed it enters a foot long tube that connects your throat to your stomach. This is called the esophagus. A ring of muscles known as the lower esophagal sphincter is located at the bottom of the esophagus.

People frequently refer to acid and reflux disease as heartburn. The word is a misnomer. The acid and reflux condition has nothing to do with the heart we only mistake it as a burning of the heart area because of the proximity of the esophagus to the heart. If this condition occurs too often you should consult a doctor for guidance.

There are all sorts of different ways to treat cure and remedy heartburn. You can do it with medication or you can do it the natural way. This article is going to take a look at a number of different options that you have to help deal with your condition.

The stomach is the organ that digest the food you eat. The digestion process uses acids to decompose the food into proteins and aminoacids. These acids are very strong but the inner stomach walls are protected by a membrane

In dealing with headache, proper assessment is really important. Proper assessment prior to headache cures must be applied in every medical consultation in order to make sure that you are receiving appropriate management methods.

When you are aiming to achieve effectiveness on the remedies you are taking, you should always make sure that the ones you are taking are right for your current condition and suitable for your body. You will not know if your chosen cures are right for you when you are not sure on current conditions, therefore it is really significant to ask for medical advices from physicians before trying different kinds of treatments. Remember that illnesses will aggravate more when they are not properly managed.

Headache is a very common condition that may associate several types of diseases. It is one of the first symptoms that is associated with various illnesses. In fact, it is usually the first symptom that will come out in neurological diseases. Any pressure in the brain will cause pain. Thus, it is not good to take for granted when this happens regularly. Whenever you observe that you frequently experience head pains, do not hesitate to consult your physician about it.

This kind of pain can be either natural or not. You can say that your pain in the head is natural when you are currently engaging in strenuous activities or if you are under pressure. Too much thinking can cause stress. It will lead to mind burn-out, leading to headache. Every person has thinking limitation, thus it is normal to experience tension headache when you are thinking too much.

Headache will become unnatural if you are consistently suffering from it. Frequent pains are signs of body functioning irregularities. These pains probably are signs of impending diseases. You will not be able to determine if these pains are already unnatural if you will not consult medical professionals.

Physicians will always perform medical assessment prior to headache cures, thus you must be cooperative to them when they are asking you. They would investigate what type of head pain you are experiencing. They will assess how severe your pain is, its location, and its characteristics. Excruciating pain needs immediate management, thus you will not expect intensive assessment when your pain is already severe. But, when just have mild head pain, you really need to undergo intensive management. The history of your head pain is also needed by your physician, as this is a very important data that will determine how frequently you experienced it.

Regular headaches will also need various exams before they can be treated. The common diagnostic exam for neurological disorders is CT scan. This is exam is indeed very reliable as it is made of high-tech equipments. You really need to undergo on this kind of diagnostic test when you have frequent headaches.

Article by Jake Rhodes

A study in 2007 found that during the course of a year 90% of people will suffer from a headache at least once. Besides the obvious pain in the head and neck region, headaches can also cause nausea, dizziness, blurred vision and loss of balance. Fortunately the vast majority of headaches aren’t symptoms of a more serious problem. Only 1% of people who visit ER suffering from headaches actually have a deeper seated health concern.

There are many well known cures and remedies for headaches but one that is not so commonly known is hypnosis. Historical evidence shows that people as far back as those of Ancient Egypt used hypnosis as an effective form of pain relief and it is still being used to this very day.

More recent scientific research has confirmed that hypnosis does indeed work as a “pain blocker”. Brain scans were taken of volunteers who had been hypnotized (as well as a control group who had not) and then made to suffer pain from a source of heat. Those who had been hypnotized had less activity in the pain sensors of the brain. This means that hypnosis actually blocks pain signals from reaching the brain. In the last few years people have even been using hypnosis as an anesthetic in surgeries with great success.

Now I’m sure that you can already imagine how hypnosis can be used to cure a headache but there is also another reason why it is so powerful at alleviating the pain. The majority of headaches are caused by stress and tension, particularly around the neck and shoulders. You may have rolled your neck around to help release some of the pain of a headache, if so you know this to be true. Well hypnosis is also a remarkably great way to relax and loosen muscles.

Although there are some differences, hypnosis is very similar to a deep state of relaxation. Typically you are lead or sat down, while the hypnotherapists guides you through a hypnotic induction. This induction often comes in the form of deep breathing exercises or progressive muscle relaxation. After this comes a deepener (just to make sure the client is properly hypnotized) and then a series of hypnotic suggestions. These suggestions can be about whatever you want, the hypnotherapist will cater for your needs. You may just simply want to relax and unwind, or perhaps you’d like to take part in a creative visualization exercise such as swimming with dolphins.

Hypnosis is actually quite an inexpensive headache remedy too. You may think that hiring a hypnotherapist every time you have a headache would be expensive…and you’d be right. However now you can find hypnosis sessions on MP3s at a fraction of the cost, these also hold the advantage that once you have paid once you can listen to the session over and over again at no extra cost. In the long run this will actually be cheaper than buying bottles of aspirin!

So next time you feel a headache coming on don’t reach for a bottle of pills. Try hypnosis, the natural remedy for headache relief.

You feel a pounding headache coming on, but what kind of headache is it? Are you aware that there are many different types, each with a unique set of causes and symptoms? The most common types of headaches include:

Tension-type HeadachesThere are two types, episodic and chronic. Someone with chronic headaches often wakes up and goes to sleep with a headache and feels a constant tightness or ache in the head and neck areas.

Migraine HeadachesA vascular-type headache, migraines are debilitating and often are accompanied by nausea/vomiting and acute sensitivity to sound and light. Women suffer more from migraines than men, possibly due to frequent hormonal changes.

Cluster HeadachesOccurring more often in men, cluster headaches may actually be the most severe of all headaches. They usually only last 30-60 minutes, however, they may recur several times throughout the day. Chronic smoking and alcohol use often contribute to the onset of cluster headaches.

Hormone HeadachesMore frequent among women, hormone headaches usually occur in conjunction with PMS and menstruation. Women who take birth control pills may also experience hormone headaches with greater frequency. Symptoms are similar to those associated with a migraine – a one-sided, throbbing headache with light/noise sensitivity.

Rebound HeadachesCaused by the over use/abuse of over-the-counter and prescribed headache remedies that often contain caffeine. Headache sufferers tend to use the medications in higher dosages or more frequently than prescribed, causing a headache “rebound effect.”

Now that you know the type of headache you typically suffer from, what can you do to get relief? Well, you can always reach for the medicine cabinet again, and grab an over-the-counter pain reliever… but that just treats the symptoms of your headache. You really need to treat the cause of your headaches… and in my opinion, the preferrable way to do that is with natural headache cures.

ChooseNatural.com is an online directory devoted to natural solutions for prevention and treatment of pain. I highly recommend you take a look and stop your pain – naturally – today!

For many of us apart from the dealings of day to day life and stress there are added pressures such as headaches and this does cause us feel that more groggy and miserable so we turn to help and look in support of natural headache cures.

This is something that is not uncommon and whilst I was chatting with a team a associates I asked, why do you turn to natural headache cures and there answer was uncomplicated. They found that using heavy tablets and other methods made them feel even more tired and worn out and this is something none of us need when we have a active schedule.

Did you know that 95% of women and 90% of men do suffer from headaches and this is a massive figure but this can be prevented if you know what the cause of your headaches are or if you have the respectable information to hand so before you start looking for a cure, try and find the cause of your headache.

With a little examination and the right education, you would be surprised at what you can achieve without having to actually take anything and by using selected foods you can also prevent your headache from occurring, or so they say.

There are other reasons why we look for natural headache cures such as hangovers and the aid of a PC and even watching TV and no matter what there are steps you can take to reduce or even completely prevent a headache from taking place.

A trustworthy place to start would be my natural headache cures page were you can uncover more information on a resource that can help you achieve headache free heaven.

What is a Migraine Headache: Migraine headaches are a form of headache, usually very intense and disabling. It is a neurologic disease of neuronal origin. The word “migraine” comes from the Greek word ‘hemikranion’ which means (pain affecting one side of the head).

What causes Tension Headache: The exact cause of tension headaches is still unknown. It has long been believed that they are caused by muscle tension around the head and neck. However although muscle tension may be involved, there are many forms of tension headaches and some scientists now believe there is not one single cause for this type of headache. One of the theories is that the pain may be caused by a malfunctioning pain filter which is located in the brain stem. The view is that the brain misinterprets information, for example from the temporal muscle or other muscles, and interprets this signal as pain. One of the main molecules which is probably involved is serotonin. Evidence for this theory comes from the fact that tension headaches may be successfully treated with certain antidepressants. Another theory says that the main cause for tension type headaches and migraine is teeth clenching which causes a chronic contraction of the temporalis muscle.

What causes Migraine Headaches: Migraines can be caused by one or a variety of triggers, including environmental or food etc. Here is just a partial list of Migraine Causes. Physical triggers: Over exertion or exhaustion, Changes in sleep patterns or routines. Environmental triggers: Strong smells, Smoky atmospheres. Psychological triggers: Emotional problems, Excitement. Food triggers: Alcohol, (especially red whine), Caffeine, Chocolate.

Symptoms of Tension Headache: Tension headache pain is often described as a constant pressure, as if the head were being squeezed in a vice. The pain is frequently bilateral which means it is present on both sides of the head at once. Tension headache pain is typically mild to moderate, but may be severe. In contrast to migraine, the pain does not increase during exercise.

Symptoms of Migraine Headaches: Migraines are characterized by attacks of moderate or severe pain, and persons suffering from migraine typically have symptoms such as, moderate to severe pain on one or both sides of the head which may throb or pulse, nausea, vomiting, photophobia and phonophobia, or pain that worsens with movement.

Tension Headache Treatment: Tension Headaches generally respond well to over-the-counter pain killers, such as tylenol or aspirin. However, these medications should be avoided in cases of chronic tension headache, due to the risk of rebound headaches.

Migraine Headache Treatment: Migraine Headaches can be reduced through dietary changes to avoid certain chemicals present in such foods as cheese, chocolate, nuts and alcoholic beverages. Medication prescribed, may be the best treatment once a migraine begins.

Tension Headache Prevention: Tension Headaches may be avoided with such therapies as: swimming, massage, heat pillows, or other relaxation techniques. Removing things that cause stress or muscle tension, can lessen the frequency of tension headaches.

Migraine Headache Prevention: Migraine Headaches can be avoided in some people by eliminating the triggers such as certain foods, again, cheese, chocolate, nuts and most alcoholic beverages. Some triggers for example, hunger and stress may be situational and can be avoided through lifestyle changes. Avoid bright flashing lights if you notice these trigger attacks; most migraineurs are sensitive and should avoid bright or flickering lights. Relaxation after stress, notably weekends and holidays, is a potent trigger; wind down gradually if possible.

If you are a migraine sufferer, then you know how painful they can get. It doesn’t matter what triggers the attack. The result is always the same and that is excruciating pain. Some people become completely helpless and paralyzed when an attack occurs. Everything that you do is pure torture so being productive is out of the question. And the worst part is, nothing can seem to alleviate the pain. Not even the most potent pain killers.

Fact is, some drugs can even make matters worse, especially those that contain harmful artificial ingredients. There is hope for migraine sufferers though as more and more research is being done with the goal of discovering an effective natural migraine cure. Right now, there are some natural methods that you can do to deal with your headaches. Some of the best techniques are discussed here in this article.

Perform breathing exercises. This is not really a cure, but it does help the sufferer to be calmer and more relaxed. Some migraine episodes can lead to panic attacks, which are a greater problem than the headache. The anxiety that sufferers feel only intensifies the pain. This is the reason why you need to be as calm as possible even when an attack is about to occur and this is where breathing exercises can help. Just take long deep breaths for several minutes or until you feel that your heartbeat is slowing down.

Stay in a dark room. Some people have discovered that staying in a dark room when migraines attack can significantly lessen the intensity and the duration of the attack. When you feel that an attack is about to come, go to your room, turn off all the lights and pull down the shade. Stay there until you start to feel better. Do not force yourself to shut your eyes to deal with the pain because it can cause undue stress on your facial muscles.

Try the emotional freedom technique or EFT. One natural migraine cure that is quickly gaining in popularity is the emotional freedom technique or EFT. Also known as the tapping method, this technique involves the use of affirmations that are said while tapping selected parts of the face and body. EFT is a safe and free method that anyone can try. It is a natural migraine cure that shows great promise. There is no harm in trying EFT and you have nothing to lose by tapping yourself and saying affirmations and finally being free from migraine headache pain!

Depending on the intensity of your migraine headache, there may be fast cures available to treat it. Below are the most common fast cures for migraine headache, based on reports from migraine sufferers.

Cold compress – Place a cold, damp towel or rag on the forehead or on the area you are feeling the pain. For an extra effect, place feet in a basin with warm water while the cold compress treatment is being applied to the forehead.

Lay still in a dark room – Lock yourself in a room with the doors closed and the curtains drawn. Make sure there is very little or no exposure to light or sound. Close your eyes and remain still until the symptoms start to go away.

Have a herbal bath – Fill the bath with water and place a few drops of peppermint or lavender in the tub. These essences are very effective at relaxing the muscles, hence helping to ease the migraine pain.

Meditate – If you are familiar with tai chi or yoga poses and techniques, performing them is a good way to get rid of the migraine headache. Meditation is listed as one of the fast cures for migraine headache because it focuses on relaxing the mind and body, hence minimizing the effects of the headache pain.

Drink herbal tea – This is also one of the fast cures for migraine headache because the herbal mixture can be prepared very quickly. Drink tea with relaxing herbs like peppermint or chamomile and experience soothing relief from the headache migraine pains.

Massage the head – Using your hands to massage your head, face and neck can sometimes be helpful at getting rid of migraine headaches. Gently massage the affected areas at specific intervals until the pain subsides.

For quick relief from your migraine headache, apply any of the methods listed and you’ll be better in no time.

The quality of personal relationships is traditionally regarded as one of the main sources of stress. The relationship between partners is the key factor, followed by the parent-child relationship. Factors that contribute to successful and relatively stress free relationships include:- communication, realistic expectations, honesty with yourself and partner, quality time together, quality time apart, listening and respect for yourself and partner.

Many sources of stress, such as bereavement, financial worries and relationship breakdowns, which feature prominently in the Holmes and Rahe scale, originate within the family. Increases in stress over the last 30 years can be partly explained by changing social factors. Within the context of a large extended family and a close working and social environment, an individual benefits from contact and communication with others, receives feedback to establish realistic life goals and meaning, as well as useful information and practical help to overcome problems. The dissolution of these close social support networks makes the individual more vulnerable to stress related chronic illnesses. In the same period it has become clear that, as well as being a source of support, affection and love, the home can also be the place where individuals, especially women and children are most likely to suffer varying degrees of physical and emotional abuse.

Parenthood imposes heavy physical, emotional and financial burdens, which can have a negative effect on the less resilient. Combining children and full time employment is the most stressful of all, especially for the working mother, who is more likely to be responsible for a bigger share of housework and childcare than the father. In this situation arguments, disagreements, misunderstandings, resentments and depression are more likely to surface. The following advice can help to reduce parental stress levels:- care for yourself as well as the children, keep a sense of self apart from the role of parent, prepare a plan and prioritise to exploit free time, use free time in a creative and stimulating way, partners should acknowledge and define shared responsibilities, preserve healthy communication, avoid self recrimination, be prepared to use family and friends for support.

Work provides an income and also fulfils a variety of other human needs – mental and physical exercise, social contact, a feeling of self worth and competence. Work, however, is also a major source of stress, arising from the nature of relations between management and employees and that between colleagues in the workplace in general.

The modern world thrives on the work ethic and we are taught at a very early age to equate personal adequacy with material success and professional status. Few of us are immune to the pressures placed on us by society to desire things that are symbols of status. Advertising and marketing strategies tap into this competitive urge we all have and create in us a need to go one better than people around us, in other words ‘keeping up with the Joneses’ syndrome. This starts at an early age, basically in tandem with the learning process. The fear of failure and the challenge of peer pressure motivates us to work to achieve. In moderation, this can be healthy, as achievement goes hand in hand with self esteem but it also creates a cumulative stress that follows us from school to secondary education, through to our working lives.

For many of us, however, it is a struggle to keep up and we offer work unnaturally long hours in unfortunate working conditions just to keep our heads above water. It has become a truism nowadays to say that no job is for life. Temporary employment contracts and the threat of unemployment are now features of more and more peoples working lives and may feel lucky to have a job at all. Society, therefore, is forcing us to change our expectations of how we work and this is taking its toll on our physical and emotional security.

In coping with the structural change of our working lives, it is vital to try to embrace the positives among the negatives. Flexitime, job sharing and increased communication through technology and the Internet, offer new ways of working, which can offer us far greater freedoms. More emphasis on leisure time and recreation should also mean more time to relax and relate to family and friends. We are staring to see worth in activities not necessarily related to the working environment. This control can be used create a healthy, more relaxed style of living. Stress is a plague of current working practices and even if we cannot change our overall working situation, there are certain steps we can take to reduce stress in our daily lives.

There is a lot of truth in the saying that a messy desk means a messy mind. Being chronically disorganised can be debilitating at work, where lack of planning is one of the most common causes of stress. Stressful environments are minimised when we impose a form of structure that can offer security against problems appearing ‘out of the blue’. Too inflexible a pattern would be impractical but keeping a diary, writing lists and prioritising duties all help to stem stressful situations. Writing down objectives, duties and activities helps to make them seem more tangible and surmountable. Do not try to overload your mind with too much information but if you take steps to keep control of things then you will work more efficiently.

People have different tolerances for routine and variety. Some personalities thrive under the security of a routine working day. In many ways it can be quite liberating, as adhering to a pattern means that you can fully concentrate on one task at a time and not get into a situation where you do not have enough time to accomplish your tasks. On the other hand, too much routine can be demoralising and boring and eat away at your enthusiasm for the job. Variety at work holds interest and enthusiasm but too little structure leads to overloading, confusion and stress.

Most of us need to strike a balance between routine and variety in order to enjoy work and maintain levels of efficiency. Monotony can be broken by looking ahead and planning when to switch from one job to another. Pacing yourself is one of the most vital practices in achieving a relaxed lifestyle. Learn when to stop and stand back from your activity, the odd moment of calm will increase efficiency when you do return to your task.

Most people suffer from time deprivation, as it is one of life’s most precious commodities. Every day most of us have to strip demands on our time down to the essentials and usually it is the time spent working and commuting that dictates how much we can give to other activities. Time deprivation leaves us feeling harassed, hurried and guilty. It may also damage relationships, as it can mean breaking arrangements because ‘we just don’t have the time’. Some people will make matters worse by procrastinating and wasting time about commitments in their social lives and deadlines at work. Often they take on too much and end up fulfilling few or none of their aims. Work will pile up and relationships will suffer as commitments are neglected and the individual is left feeling panicked and chaotic.

It can be very difficult to change habits that have been formed over a lifetime. Often the best way is to recognise weak points in time management and learn to deal with them. Prioritise and look at the steps mentioned earlier in this article for dealing with organisation.

Many people get headaches as a response to physical strain, cramped muscles, and pinches nerves. These muscular headaches can be brutal, and are usually reoccurring to a very persistent degree. Usually, there is some level of tightness in or soreness in the area the muscle strain is occurring, like your neck or back area.

Because your nerves in that region are all connected and ultimately lead to your head, strain in your neck, shoulders, or back can produce headaches. Usually these kinds of headaches start out very localized, but can often spread over your entire head. Cures for headaches of this kind are difficult, as you have to cease doing whatever it is that is causing the strain, and may need extensive physical therapy to help your muscles recover.

Then there are sinus headaches. These are especially nasty, but fortunately are rarely a constant reoccurring phenomenon. Sinus headaches result from pressure in your sinuses, as a result from allergies, colds, or a sinus infection. If you get sinus headaches a lot, you may be suffering from allergies. Cures for headaches of this type can range from allergy treatments, to decongestants. My favorite is Claritin.

Unfortunately, headaches are one of the most complicated and poorly understood phenomenons in the medical world. Have you ever tried asking your doctor about cures for headaches? If you ask ten different doctors about headaches, you’ll get ten different answers.

The reason why doctors give you so many different answers is because headaches can have so many causes, and a lot of them aren’t really clear. If you get a lot of headaches, the first step you should do is try and figure out what kind of headaches you’re getting. From my understanding, there are a few different kinds.

Last but certainly not least, are migraines; everyone’s favorite and the least understood of the headache family. There are so many potential causes for migraines its not funny. If you suffer from migraines often, like me, it’s a good start to keep a kind of headache log.

Record hours you slept, how well you slept, what you ate and drank, what you did during the day, anything you can think of and see if you can detect patterns with your headaches. If you can’t get your finger on it there’s always painkillers. While they’re certainly not cures for headaches, they are better than nothing.

If you suffer from frequent headaches like me, finding some effective cures for headaches has probably been a personal goal of yours. I know for me it has been like the search for the Holy Grail. I would gladly sell my soul for some kind of magic pill of treatment that would serve as a once and for all cure for headaches.

Safe and Natural Cures for Childhood Migraine Headaches

A migraine is an acute headache that is intensely painful and can even be a disabling condition for most. They may affect individuals of any age, but most times begin between the ages of 10 and forty and may start to lessen after the age of 50. It’s bad enough if an adult suffers with these painful headaches, but it can be heartbreaking if someone in your family gets childhood migraine headaches.

Migraines are very common among the population as a whole. They affect about 30,000,000 people in the U. S. In the U.S., 18% of females and 6% of males report having at least one migraine during the past twelve months. Some people experience several migraines a month, and others have only a few migraines throughout their lifetime. Roughly 75% of all migraine sufferers are women.

So, what should you do if your son or daughter gets childhood migraine headaches? Many people take aspirin or ibuprofen, but this treatment is probably not appropriate for your child. Taking these and other drugs can have severe side effects on children. Among other things, these side effects can include conditions like stomach ulcers and kidney problems. And though other drugs might be available, a lot of them have tons of other frightening complications that you don’t want to expose your children to.

So, what can you do when painful childhood migraine headaches strike? Following are some great natural remedies for childhood migraine headaches that you can apply quickly and get fast relief.

Any discussion on getting rid of migraines should begin with the cause of migraines. Most times migraines are brought on by the following events; stress, fatigue, certain medicines, and certain foods. Monosodium glutamate ( also known as MSG), is assumed to be a common factor in the reason for serious migraines for a number of individuals. MSG is a common ingredient in Chinese and Asian cooking.

Conventional home remedies for migraine headaches target trigger avoidance and symptom control. If you notice that particular foods or situations are frequently followed by a migraine, avoid it in the future. Although this may appear to be common sense, many people do not make the connection between the 2 occurrences. If a member of your family suffers with childhood migraine headaches, keep a journal of what they eat to determine if food is the cause.

A relaxing soak in the bath-tub is one of the best natural remedies. A calming warm bath can quickly reduce some of the symptoms of childhood migraine headaches. If at all possible, turn down the lights while they are bathing. Do this by employing a night light or by using a candle to provide a low light atmosphere. If they experience unpleasant symptoms like flashing lights, have them lie back in a comfortable position and tell them to shut their eyes. Then softly massage the area surrounding their temples or the area slightly below the cheek bones.

Among all of the remedies that I’ve tried, a massage is my absolute favorite. Massage therapies are usually quite effective techniques to relieve childhood migraine headaches. If a migraine is coming on, give them a massage. Headaches and serious migraines are frequently caused by a build up of stress. When you’re tense, your muscles tighten up. A massage works to effectively relax these tight muscles and help reduce the accumulated tension in your system. By massaging the back of their neck and shoulders, as well as those at the base of the skull, muscles relax and the pain is eliminated.

A little known, but effective remedies involves the simple act of drinking water. Nearly eighty percent of USA citizens don’t drink sufficient amounts of water and are dehydrated to some degree. And because most folk have a tendency to eat or drink small amounts during a serious headache, this may make the pain worse. Dehydration, no matter how mild, may cause headaches or migraines. Although it is a little known fact, a lot of folks can get headache pain relief by simply consuming water. If you believe your childs headache could be due to dehydration, a few cups of water may be just the thing to provide them significant pain relief. This treatment is certainly one of the simplest solutions that I know of.

Another one of the good headache remedies is moderation in the consumption of caffeine. You’d be surprised at the level of caffeine contained in many soft drinks. These are common triggers. It is also important to ensure that that they are getting sufficient sleep, and eating meals at regular intervals.

Some people relieve pain by using either a cold or warm compress to the effected area. Most people report that a cold compress works best, but if the cold is uncomfortable, try a warm compress.

Acupressure is also one of the great headache remedy. Like acupuncture, it is a well known alternative cure for many medical conditions that has been successfully applied for thousands of years. To alleviate pain, have them squeeze the fleshy area between their thumb and forefinger for at least five minutes for one of the quick headache treatments. Many of us can also get relief from migraine discomfort by softly rubbing [using small circular motions] the little dents just in front of the ears.

How the body reacts to prolong stress is described by Dr Hans Selye in terms of the General Adaptation Syndrome. Selye divides the stress response into three phases: Alarm Response, Adaptation and Exhaustion. The Alarm Response is the fight or flight response that prepares the body for immediate action. If the source of stress persists, then the body prepares for long term protection through the secretion of further hormones that increase blood sugar levels to sustain energy and raise blood pressure. This Adaptation phase, resulting from exposure to prolonged periods of stress, is common and not necessarily harmful but without periods of relaxation and rest to counter-balance the stress response, sufferers become prone to fatigue, concentration lapses, irritability and lethargy as the effort to sustain arousal slides into negative stress. Under persistent, chronic stress, sufferers enter the Exhaustion phase: mental, physical and emotional resources suffer heavily and the body experiences ‘adrenal exhaustion’, where blood sugar levels decrease as the adrenals become depleted, leading to decreased stress tolerance, progressive mental and physical exhaustion, illness and collapse.

Exposure to excessive stress results in hormonal imbalances, which can produce a variety of symptoms:-

Physical symptoms – changes in sleep patterns, missed heartbeats, fatigue, palpitations, changes in digestion, breathlessness, loss of sexual drive, headaches, infections, indigestion, tingling of hands and feet, aches and pains in various parts of the body, dizziness, sweating and trembling.

Mental symptoms – lack of concentration, panic attacks, memory lapses, difficulty in making decisions, disorientation and confusion.

Emotional symptoms – deterioration in personal hygiene and appearance, bouts of depression, impatience and irritability, fits of rage and tearfulness.

Behavioural symptoms – appetite changes, eating disorders, increased intake of alcohol and other drugs, nail biting, fidgeting, restlessness, hypochondria and increased smoking.

The term ‘cardiovascular’ refers to the heart and the body’s system of blood vessels. Cardiovascular disease is probably the most serious health problem that can be linked to stress – it is the most common cause of death in the UK and the USA. The primary causes of heart disease include smoking and high fat diets but stress is a significant contributory factor.

Adrenal hormones act to increase blood pressure; temporary rises in blood pressure present no threat to health but a frequent or perpetual state of high blood pressure can have a serious effect on health in the long term. High blood pressure is linked with the development of arteriosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. Arteriosclerosis is the result of the development of blood plaque in the arteries, which progressively narrows the pathway through which the blood flows. Eventually an artery can become blocked, leading to angina, stroke and heart failure.

Infections, viruses, harmful bacteria and cancer are stopped from harming the body by the immune system. Excessive stress can damage the immune system by affecting the thymus gland, which manufactures white blood cells for regulating immunity and also produces various immune related hormones. The stress reaction diverts resources to the main parts of the body that need to deal with stress, mainly the brain, heart and muscles. The immune system and other systems are deprived of resources. The thymus gland may shrink because of the hormones that are produced by the adrenal glands. This will also degrade the work done by the white blood cells, which will cause damage to the body’s ability to fight infection. Reduced resistance to common infections, such as flu, colds and herpes is a result of high stress. Because certain types of white blood cells produced by the thymus are active in preventing the development of cancer cells in the body, any damage to the thymus may effect the bod’s ability to resist cancer.

Asthma is a respiratory disorder marked by the temporary constriction of the bronchi, the airways branching from the trachea to the lungs. Attacks are usually brought on by allergic reactions to antigens, such as grass and tree pollen, mould spores, fungi and certain foods but also may be caused by chemical irritants in the atmosphere or by infections of the respiratory tract. Susceptibility to an asthma attack is based on hyperactivity of the bronchial muscles, which constrict on exposure to one or any of these agents. Chronic stress reduces the efficiency of the adrenal glands, reducing the output of anti inflammatory and anti allergic adrenal hormones, which may make an asthma attack more likely.

Diabetes is caused by the inability of the body to metabolise sugar correctly, leading to excessively high levels of sugar in the blood. Sugar metabolism is the responsibility of the hormone insulin, which is secreted by the pancreas. The majority of diabetics are able to produce insulin but a number of factors limit its efficiency; this is known as ‘insulin sensitivity’.

Blood sugar levels are significantly impacted by the release of adrenal hormones under stress. Adrenaline causes sugar in the liver to be put into the blood stream and cortisol acts to reduce the metabolism of glucose by cells. Large amounts of cortisol act to decrease insulin sensitivity. High blood sugar levels are not dangerous in normally healthy individuals but chronic stress, combined with other factors such as obesity, act to increase the likelihood of developing diabetes.

Ulcers are frequently associated with stress, although no conclusive link has yet been demonstrated. Normally the lining of the stomach is covered with a layer of mucus to protect it from the digestive acids and enzymes used in the breaking down of food. Over time, chronic stress can stimulate the overproduction of gastric juices, which break down the protective mucus and act upon the walls of the digestive tract, resulting in ulceration. Ulcers usually occur singly in round or oval lesions; the erosions are usually shallow but can penetrate the entire wall, leading to haemorrhage and possibly death.

Many problems with the digestive tract, such as constipation, diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome are linked to stress. The brain will send messages to the nerves in the digestive tract in the form of hormones. These messages will tell the intestinal muscles to expand or contract. Hormonal imbalances can cause alterations in intestinal function, such as spasms, constipation and diarrhoea. Chronic stress tends to shut down the digestive system altogether, exacerbating intestinal problems.

Stress increases levels of toxicity in the body and contributes to hormonal imbalances, both of which have an effect on the skin. The visible effects of stress on the skin include:- acne, spots, skin diseases, eczema, excessive pallor and psoriasis.

Headaches are one of our most common afflictions and are normally caused not by disease but by fatigue, emotional disorders or allergies. Intermittent tension headaches are caused by worry, anxiety, overwork or inadequate ventilation. The most common type, a chronic tension headache, is often caused by depression. Brain tissue itself is insensitive to pain, as is the bony covering of the brain (cranium). The stimulation of the nerves of the cranium, upper neck and the membranous linings of the brain will cause headache pain. This stimulation can be produced by inflammation, by the dilation of blood vessels of the head or by muscle spasms in the neck and head. Headaches brought on by muscle spasms are classified as tension headaches: those caused by the dilation of blood vessels are called vascular headaches.

Migraine is the most common cause of vascular headache. Many things seem capable of triggering migraine attacks, including stress, fatigue, drugs and foods that contain substances that affect the blood vessels. Chronic headache may be physical symptoms of depression or other kinds of severe emotional problems.

Stress has a debilitating effect on the nerves in general and certain premenstrual symptoms may be aggravated by stress. Many sufferers of PMS have abnormal levels of the adrenal hormone aldosterone, which may account for some of the problems of excessive fluid retention and weight gain, breast tenderness and abdominal bloating. Further release of aldosterone caused by stress will exacerbate these problems.

Chronic stress can produce severe depression because of its debilitating psychological effects. The physiological changes produced by stress can also contribute to depression. Adrenaline and noradrenaline are not only adrenal hormones but chemical messengers in the brain. Deficiencies of noradrenaline have been linked to depression in certain individuals and so adrenal exhaustion through chronic long term stress may be a contributory factor in depressive illness.

There are many medicines for headaches but there are some natural cures for headaches as well. There are many more treatment options available than you may have been aware of. Most people first reach for medication but natural remedies can be just as effective if not more than over the counter medication, and natural remedies for headaches are becoming more and more popular due to the nasty effects of the overuse of certain OTC medication.

Information On Natural Headache Cures

A natural headache cure is any type of treatment that does not involve prescription or over the counter medication. This can include home remedies or herbal remedies. These types of treatments are considered to be natural and alternative headache cures. These methods can be just as effective as headache medication. You may be particularly interested in natural remedies if you experience reactions to medication.

Natural headache treatments are sometimes very desirable, as they do not have side effects that may be associated with medication. Many times over the counter medication has more serious side effects then actually having the headache. It has also been found that regular use of some of these medications can actually cause headaches instead of offer headache relief. Constant headaches may also be an indication that you have other health issues. You may need to alter some of your habits and lifestyle. You also may need to visit a doctor if the headaches persist.

Diaphragmatic breathing is one of the most effective natural cures for headaches as this is a key part of all relaxation techniques. Stress is one of the top causes of headaches and by relieving stress you can eliminate your headache. By practicing relaxation breathing you can eliminate stress.

You can also visit a chiropractor, as they may be able to realign your body to treat your headaches. The flow of energy in your body may be causing the headaches and if the flow is disturbed in any way you may suffer from headaches. By realigning the spine and skeletal structure you may be able to cure your headaches.

As with breathing, reflexology can be used to relax and relieve stress thus curing your headache. Reflexology is based on an ancient Chinese technique and deals with energy that can be reflected from specific points of your body. By pressing on these specific points you can relieve tension in the body. Eventually, you can learn how to apply pressure yourself without visiting a specialist. You can also use reflexology with other natural cures for headaches such as acupressure and acupuncture.

Headache (cephalalgia in medical terminology) is a condition of pain in the head; sometimes neck or upper back pain may also be interpreted as a headache. Headache, like chest pain or dizziness, has many causes. All headaches are considered primary headaches or secondary headaches. Primary headaches are not associated with other diseases. The most common type of headache is a tension headache. As many as 90% of adults have tension headaches.

Apply pressure to the area where your thumb and index finger connect. Apply as much pressure as you can stand for a minute or so. As time passes while you are doing this, you will notice the pain in the head start to subside. This is a great acupressure treatment that works quite well. Do NOT use this technique if you are pregnant. Doing so can cause abdominal contractions and may result in premature delivery.

Make lemon juice from two to three slices of lemon and mix it with a cup of tea. Apply the lemon plaster thus made on the forehead with the help of the paste out of the lemon crust. You can also put fresh lemon rinds on the forehead.

There are a lot of different ways to get rid of a headache. The main thing is that the headache should not harm you, overall. It would be pretty amazing for you to have a headache, get rid of the headache and then develop a more serious side effect. If you can it is best if you can use a natural way of headache pain relief. Now don’t forget to keep in mind that if the headache continues or you feel dizzy, you get double vision or other similar symptoms, you should talk to your doctor immediately.

The ordinary ginger can help you get rid of your nasty headache. It inhibits a substance known as thromboxane A2 that prevents the release of chemicals that make your blood vessels expand. With this effect, ginger is useful for treating migraines as well as other types of headaches. Eating crystallized ginger or adding some grated ginger in your drink will be enough as a home remedy for your headache. Using fresh or powdered ginger when cooking your food will do just as well.

Grandma’s remedy was to inhale camphor for a few deep breaths. Try steam inhalation of eucalyptus oil. Massage your neck and shoulder muscles as best you can under a warm shower. Lay flat on the floor and practice relaxation. Massage the temples and press at the back of the neck towards the skull to find any sore spots. Try maintaining medium pressure for a few seconds at a time. Drinking a very hot cup of tea, either green tea or will often relieve a headache in a few minutes. Thyme tea is helpful, fresh from the garden, or dried. Ginger, peppermint, rosemary, feverfew or chamomile tea are also reliable. Other people sip hot coffee and find it better than painkillers. Using acupressure on the big toe – clamping the thumb and forefinger and holding for a few minutes is sometimes effective. Reflexology recommends pressure and massage of the thumb and its base

More than 30 million Americans suffer from migraine headaches which can be classified as severe and often disabling headaches. A typical migraine headache will give a warning sign before its onset, such as tingling in your limbs, seeing blind spots or flashing lights. You will know when you are experiencing a migraine headache because they are accompanied by most, if not all of the following symptoms. Severe pain either on one side or both sides of the head, pulsing head pain, worsening head pain with any activity, nausea or vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound, and not being able to function regularly. While seeing flashing lights or blind spots are a common warning sign of a migraine, some sufferers experience these symptoms throughout the entire duration of their headache. This is classified as a classic migraine and, along with the above conditions, the person will also experience weakness and speech problems along with zigzagging lines in their eyes. If a migraine is left untreated, the pain can last from four to 72 hours, which can cause huge disturbances in a persons normal life.

Although doctors are not 100 percent sure what causes migraines to occur, there are something’s that are known to trigger these headaches. These include, fluctuations in hormones; many women claim that their migraines worsen just before a period or during menopause and pregnancy. Certain foods can also trigger migraines, such as alcohol, cheese, chocolate, aspartame and caffeine which is found in coffee, tea, chocolate and most soft drinks. To avoid migraines as best you can, try keeping a diary of the foods you eat and record how they made you feel afterwards. After a couple of weeks doing this you should be able to see what foods that are triggers for you, therefore telling you which foods to avoid. Other triggers can include stress, changes in the environment and certain medications.

To prevent migraines try avoiding trigger foods, as well as exercise regularly, cutting down on estrogen producing drugs if you are a woman, and quitting smoking and drinking alcohol. All of these things can help you avoid migraines, but if you do happen to get one, try over the counter pain medications or talk to you doctor about prescription drugs that are right for you. Good over the counter medications include Advil, Tylenol, Aspirin and similar drugs. If you have been drinking alcohol in the past 48 hours, you should not take Tylenol as it can cause serious liver damage. Also remember that you should never give Aspirin to a child because it can cause Reyes Syndrome (a potentially fatal illness in children).

As fast and unexpected as migraine headaches come, it really isn’t fair how long they usually last. There we are, just working happily along when all the sudden we have a super-duper painful headache that makes it so we can barely open our eyes. And worse still, who knows how long it’s going to last? After dealing with these problems for awhile, I finally stopped being lazy and did some research to figure out how to get rid of these awful headaches. Based on my research and experience, here are the three fastest cures for migraine headaches:

1. Go into a Quiet and Dark Room – Since most migraines are light sensitive, and many are sound sensitive too; going into a dark and quiet room will keep the sensitivities at bay and ensure that your migraine headaches don’t get any worse It is going to be very difficult to get rid of your migraine if you’re in a loud and/or bright environment, so make sure to move as quickly as possible. If you’re at work, you could be in a bit of a pickle here. That said, be prepared and have a few “on the go” migraine headache relief technique — obviously, you’ll need to learn about these before hand.

2. Drink fluids- Many migraines are triggered by extreme dehydration, which believe it or not is extremely common. So, get rid of that coffee or soda that you’re drinking, and try to drink at least a cup of water or juice right away. This rush of fluids will help your body rejuvenate itself, and since it will only take a few minutes for it to fully start working, it is definitely one of the fastest cures for migraine headaches. Also, if you change your habits to try and stay more hydrated by drinking more water and juice, you should notice that you’re getting much fewer migraines and that they’re not lasting nearly as long.

3. Exercise – While exercising during a migraine will undoubtedly make it worse, exercising on a regular basis has been scientifically proven to drastically reduce both the number and duration of migraine headaches. This is because as your circulatory system improves, the issues they cause migraines become less and less frequent. So, if you’re a pretty sedentary person and you’ve been getting migraines on a regular basis, try to start exercising more often throughout the week. In the meantime — when you suffer from a migraine — try and keep movement to a bare minimum. Movement will make the migraine worse, and you want to conserve your body’s energy to help correct the issues causing the migraine. While this technically isn’t a “fast” cure for migraine headache, it will help to prevent them in the long run.

While this is just general information on how to relieve headache pain, I truly feel that these are the best & fastest cures for migraine headaches — especially in light of all we know about over the counter painkillers and prescription drugs. I hate to say it, but its quite likely you’ll suffer from a migraine again very soon; after all, they tend to come back even when we think we got rid of them for good. That said, give these methods a try before that happens and see how they work out. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what a difference it makes. And who knows, maybe if you keep using these cures for migraine headaches regularly, you won’t suffer through nearly as many migraines in the future.

And before I go, one last important thing. If you’re getting migraine headaches every morning, start taking a multi vitamin daily. Many migraine headaches are caused by a lack of vitamins and minerals, so rather than try and figure out which one you’re missing, it’s usually just easier to take a multivitamin and cover all your bases.

Headaches can be quite a bothersome issue when it hits you often. It can prevent you from doing your job or enjoying your leisure time. Many will try to treat their headaches primarily by using over-the-counter medication. But there are also some available alternatives that may help ease the pain brought about by headaches. Here are the more surprising ones.

Acupuncture

It is an ancient practice of Chinese medicine and considered as alternative form of treatment. When it comes to headaches, acupuncture is known to help ease the pain away by placing needles in specific sensory areas on the neck, cheeks and forehead in order to redirect the pain. This help the body become desensitized to the pain over time. The effect on headaches comes as a result of acupuncture treatments that may last for several months.

Botox Treatments

What is a popular method of trying to smooth out wrinkles have also been discovered to help ease the pain caused by headaches. Botox is actually a toxin that helps relax the muscles if given in measured doses. Botox can also help relax those muscles that contract as a result of headaches. It also works to block sensory nerves that transmit pain signals to the brain.

Drinking Water

People might be surprised to know that water may also help ease or even cure headaches. There are certain headaches that is caused when the body is dehydrated. When the body feels that it is not getting enough water for hydration it starts to preserve those that it currently has and then sends signals that some functions may not be working that well. Headaches happen to be one of those signals. Drinking water would usually ease the discomfort almost immediately. Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day can help prevent such headaches from occurring more often.

Caffeine

Aside from trying to keep you awake when you need to, a cup of coffee can also help make that headache go away. Limited amounts of caffeine is known to control the pain caused by headaches. It may curb the pain by trying to constrict the blood vessels. Caffeine may also help in making the body absorb headache medications better through the stomach lining. But also be aware that caffeine may also be causing headaches in some people. Too much of it may sometimes be the cause, so drink coffee moderately.

Headache cures are the most sought after remedies as it is one of the most common ailment people suffer from. Headaches afflict almost everyone at some time or the other. Most headaches are functional, being caused by temporary upsets, and are not related to any organic changes in the brain. They are often natures warning that something is wrong somewhere in the body. The actual pain, however, arises from irritation to nerve endings in the shoulder, neck, and scalp muscles, and also in the smooth muscles encircling the blood vessels which severe these areas.

Causes of headache Allergies, stress, eye strain

The common causes of headaches are allergy, emotional stress, eye strain, high blood pressure, a hangover, infection, low blood sugar, nutritional deficiency, tension, and the presence of poisons and toxins in the body. Allergies are often the unsuspected cause of headaches. The foods to which some people are allergic and which can trigger headaches are milk and milk products, chocolate, chicken, liver, alcohol and strong cheese. Sneezing and diarrhoea are further indications of an allergy.

Headache cures and remedies

There are several natural remedies for various types or headaches. The juice of three or four slices of lemon should be squeezed in a cup of tea and taken by the patient for treating this condition. It gives immediate relief. The crust of lemon, which is generally thrown away, has been found useful in headaches caused by heat. Lemon crusts should be pounded into a fine paste in a mortar and applied as plaster on the forehead. Applying the yellow, freshly pared-off rind of a lemon to each temple will also give relief.

Cure Headaches naturally using Apple

Apples are valuable in curing all types of headaches. After removing the upper rind and the inner hard portion of a ripe apple, it should be taken with a little salt every morning on an empty stomach in such cases. This should be continued for about a week.

Natural Headache remedy using Henna

The flowers of henna have been found valuable in curing headaches caused by hot sun. The flowers should be rubbed in vinegar and applied over the forehead. This remedy will soon provide relief.

Headache remedy using Cinnamon

Cinnamon is useful in headaches caused by exposure to cold air. A fine paste of this spice should be prepared by mixing it with water and it should be applied over the temples and forehead to obtain relief.

Headache treatment using Marjoram

The herb marjoram is beneficial in the treatment of a nervous headache. An infusion of the leaves is taken as a tea in the treatment of this disorder.

Headache treatment using Rosemary

The herb rosemary has been found valuable in headaches resulting from cold. A handful of this herb should be boiled in a litre of water and put in a mug. The head should be covered with a towel and the steam inhaled for as long as the patient can bear. This should be repeated till the headache is relieved.

Diet for headaches Proper nutrition, excercise, positive thinking

The best way to prevent headaches is to build up physical resistance through proper nutrition, physical exercise and positive thinking. As a first step, the patient should undertake a short fast, and take citrus fruit juices diluted with water every two hours from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. daily. Thereafter, he should plan his diet in such a way as to put the least possible strain on the digestion. Breakfast may consist of fruits, both fresh and dried. Lunch may consist of protein foods. Starchy foods such as wholewheat bread, cereals, rice, or potatoes should be taken at dinner along with raw salads. Spices, condiments, sour buttermilk, and oily foodstuffs should be avoided. Drinking a glass of water (warm water in winter and cool water in summer), mixed with a teaspoon of honey first thing in the morning, is also a good remedy. Copious drinking of water throughout the day is also advised.

Other headache remedies Water treatment

Other helpful measures in the treatment of headaches are a cleansing enema with water temperature at 37 degree C, a cold throat pack, frequent applications of towels wrung out from very hot water to the back of the neck , a cold compress at 4.4 degree C to 15.6 degree C applied to the head and face, or an alternate spinal compress. Hot fomentations over the abdominal region just before retiring relieve headaches caused by stomach and liver upsets.

Hot foot bath

Hot foot baths are also beneficial in the treatment of chronic headaches. The patient should keep his legs in a tub or bucket filled with hot water at a temperature of 40 degree C to 45 degree C for fifteen minutes every night before retiring. This treatment should be continued for two or three weeks.

Yogasanas

Yogic kriyas like jalneti and kunjal; pranayamas like anulomaviloma, shitali and sitkari; and asanas such as uttanpadasana, sarvangasana, paschimottanasana, halasana, and shavasana are also beneficial in the treatment of headaches.

Taking over-the-counter painkiller multiple times a day and regularly is not advisable for health anytime. This especially is a difficult situation for them who suffer from severe attacks often. Taking a pill or two would definitely lessen or free you from the headache but this medication is simply not meant to be taken every day. Though some people may have them regularly without complications, but these over the counter pills are absolutely not approved by FDA for regular intake.

Variety of Headache Cures

There are an umpteen number of ways to relieve the headache; the degree of effectiveness may vary between people. The trick is to try these remedies and find the one that works for you. Cure for a headache is attacking different causes for different people depending on their sources of pain. Different methods will work for different people because their source of headache is different from others’.

Alternatives to Chemistry

The most conventional remedy to relive headache is to apply a cold or a warm compress to the head. While a cold compress may work for some people it might not be as effective for others and instead a warm compress may work wonders in attaining relief. Typically, a migraine headache can be cured by a cold compress to the head whereas a warm compress, at the back of neck is effective in relaxing relax the muscles and relieving a tension headache.Grabbing good sound nap in a dark room with the compress is highly effective in lessening the pain. If you have getting sleep, a relaxing massage would help big time. Typically, music and physical activity aggravate a headache.

Always keep a check on your eating and drinking. Dehydration causes headache which can easily bee avoided by drinking more water. The cause of a migraine headache may also be food-related. A food diary should help you track the food that instigate the pain especially those which have high caffeine levels. Taking care of these habits would defiantly lessen your pill intake.
