Headaches are comprised of two major categories, primary and secondary. Headaches belonging to the primary group are not caused by underlying medical conditions while secondary headaches are the result of a medical condition such as trauma, infection or possibly even a brain tumor. Most headaches belong in the primary category.

The primary category headaches include migraine headaches and tension headaches. These two headache types are the most common of all headaches with tension-type headaches being the most common. Tension headaches constitute about 75% of all headaches while migraine headaches affect as many as 30 or 40 million Americans, or approximately 10% or more of the American population.

Migraine headaches can become chronic in nature, but are typically experienced at most once or twice a week, not daily. Females experience the pain of migraines about 3 times as often as males, or about 75% of the time. Migraine headaches can be severe and disabling. They can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting and a sensitivity to light. About 20% of migraine patients will experience an aura. An aura is a disturbance in vision that consists of brightly colored blinking lights that move across a person’s field of vision.

There are many types of treatment methods that are available to migraine sufferers, both natural and unnatural. The most common method of treatment are pain relievers that are bought without a prescription, or over-the-counter. Non-prescription drugs can include aspirin, Tylenol (acetaminophen), Motrin (ibuprofen), or a combination of acetaminophen and aspirin. These are the most commonly purchased types of non-prescription pain relievers. Migraine headache patients experiencing more severe pain may need prescription medicine.

There are also many types of natural treatment methods that don’t involve the use of non-prescription or prescription medications. These methods of treatment can often relieve migraine headache symptoms and are increasingly gaining popularity in today’s society as people are becoming more educated on the potentially dangerous side effects of drugs. One of these natural treatment methods is putting an ice pack on the back of the neck at the base of the skull. When using an ice pack there should be a barrier between the ice pack and the skin such as a wet cloth or t-shirt that has had the water squeezed out of it. Ice therapy can lessen the flow of blood to the head resulting in less pressure in the head. It can often help relieve the throbbing pain of a migraine headache by decreasing the flow of blood to the head. It is often beneficial for a person to put their feet in a container of warm water at the same time. This can have the effect of attracting the blood to the feet instead of to the head.

Migraine headaches can sometimes be caused by foods and can be prevented by eliminating these food triggers. Foods that can trigger migraine headaches include, but are not limited to, caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, MSG (monosodium glutamate), nuts, cheese, beans, onions and others. Eliminating the trigger may eliminate the migraines.

Another natural treatment method for migraine headaches is simply to reduce stress by relaxing. Many migraines are caused by stress, so eliminating the stress can relieve the pain. Relieving stress can sometimes be achieved by getting plenty of sleep, lying down in a dark quiet room, or a combination of lying down in a dark quiet room with a small ice pack positioned on the neck at the base of the skull as explained above.

This article is a general overview with regard to natural migraine headache treatment methods and may not apply to everyone. As always it is a good idea to seek the help of a professional before treating yourself for a potentially serious health condition.

Migraine headaches have become a very common neurological disorder common in people around the world. Often confused with a normal headache for those who are not very aware of this disorder. But unlike the common headaches that require treatment and care. It is much more painful than the normal headaches and makes a person unable to perform any work for some time.

So what is the sensory modulation? Imagine fleeing for his life, because there is someone running behind you with an ax. If you fall over and cut his leg. You wake up. You twist your ankle. You wake up. You are still running so fast. You smash it faces in the low branch of a tree, breaking his nose, but keep running. If you had suffered such injuries at work or at home, it would probably be taken to hospital in agony!

Eat often! Hypoglycemia can often be the cause of headaches. Eat fruit every two hours in the day to keep your blood sugar regulated. Headaches and migraines are among a list of common reactions cleaning, so it is best to eat regularly unless you are in the environment and mindset to support cleaning.

The term “migraine” comes from hemikrania Greek word meaning “half head”, but was revised, in French terminology such as migraine. When migraine attacks, which often only hurts the left or right side of the head of the victim. However, the intense pain is felt throughout the head. Migraines are caused by enlargement of the blood vessels of the head and chemicals being released by nerve fibers that loop around the blood vessels. In addition, migraine occurs when a person sympathetic nervous system is affected by nausea, diarrhea or vomiting. When you have a migraine, it is best not to ignore the horrible condition.

The fresh juice of grapes is higher among the remedies for migraine. Grind fresh grapes to extract the juice and you have to drink without adding water. Another juice that you can prepare a mixture of carrot juice combined with spinach or beet. You can even add cucumber if you think you might improve the taste. You may want to increase their intake of foods rich in niacin, such as yeast and whole wheat bread, it is also great for relieving migraine pain. Garlic may also help prevent the frequency of migraine attacks and should therefore incorporate this into the food they eat.

Many of us have found a cure for migraine headache, take a nice hot bath. If possible, turn down the lights in your bathroom or use soft candlelight. This can also reduce some of the visible negative effects that may be experiencing. Another cure for migraine pain is to use a cold wet compress on the head where the pain is more severe.
You feel a pounding headache coming on, but what kind of headache is it? Are you aware that there are many different types, each with a unique set of causes and symptoms? The most common types of headaches include:

Tension-type HeadachesThere are two types, episodic and chronic. Someone with chronic headaches often wakes up and goes to sleep with a headache and feels a constant tightness or ache in the head and neck areas.

Migraine HeadachesA vascular-type headache, migraines are debilitating and often are accompanied by nausea/vomiting and acute sensitivity to sound and light. Women suffer more from migraines than men, possibly due to frequent hormonal changes.

Cluster HeadachesOccurring more often in men, cluster headaches may actually be the most severe of all headaches. They usually only last 30-60 minutes, however, they may recur several times throughout the day. Chronic smoking and alcohol use often contribute to the onset of cluster headaches.

Hormone HeadachesMore frequent among women, hormone headaches usually occur in conjunction with PMS and menstruation. Women who take birth control pills may also experience hormone headaches with greater frequency. Symptoms are similar to those associated with a migraine – a one-sided, throbbing headache with light/noise sensitivity.

Rebound HeadachesCaused by the over use/abuse of over-the-counter and prescribed headache remedies that often contain caffeine. Headache sufferers tend to use the medications in higher dosages or more frequently than prescribed, causing a headache “rebound effect.”

Now that you know the type of headache you typically suffer from, what can you do to get relief? Well, you can always reach for the medicine cabinet again, and grab an over-the-counter pain reliever… but that just treats the symptoms of your headache. You really need to treat the cause of your headaches… and in my opinion, the preferrable way to do that is with natural headache cures.

ChooseNatural.com is an online directory devoted to natural solutions for prevention and treatment of pain. I highly recommend you take a look and stop your pain – naturally – today!

Make lifestyle choices that promote good health may reduce the frequency and severity of your tension-type headaches.• Eat healthy foods. Don’t skip meals, especially breakfast, and stay hydrated with plenty of water daily.• Exercise regularly. During physical activity, your body releases certain chemicals that block pain signals to your brain. Walking, nature Hiking, Swimming and cycling are often good choices. But it’s important to start slowly. Exercising too vigorously can trigger some types of headaches.• Get enough sleep. Wake up and go to bed at the same time every day — even on weekends. Enjoy in moderation• Try To Get Enough Sex.• Quit smoking. Smoking is just bad for your health, unless it’s medical marijuana.Keep stress under controlStress and tension-type headaches often go hand in hand. Simplify your life. Rather than looking for ways to squeeze more activities or chores into the day, find a way to leave some things out.Manage your time wisely. Delegate what you can, and break large projects into manageable chunks.Simplify Your Life. You can’t take it with you.Take a break. If you feel overwhelmed, a few slow stretches or a quick walk may renew your energy for the task at hand.Adjust your attitude. Stay positive. If you find yourself thinking, “This can’t be done,” switch gears. Think instead, “This will be tough. But I can make it work.”Let go. Don’t worry about things you can’t control.

One of the easiest way to soothe a headache and we can do it everywhere is through massage. Massage is the practice of applying pressure or vibration to the soft tissues of the body, to heal injury, relieve psychological stress, manage pain, improve circulation and relieve tension. When we suffer from headache, we can help ourselves with self-massage. Simple and everybody can do it, either at work or home. Here are four easy ways in massage to heal our headache. 1. Eyes Area Massage — Close your eyes. Place your middle fingers to your eyes that are above cheekbones. Massage that area gently but firmly in circular motion for 1 minute,2. Eyes to Nose Massage Using thumb go along the underside of eyebrows (along the bone on top of eye socket). Feel where this bone meets the bridge of your nose and eyes and find a point where there is a small indentation. Very gentle pressure, press your thumbs into the points. You can do it four times by holding and press that area for 10 seconds in each press.3. Neck Massage — Massage a point where you can feel it by moving the middle fingers of your hands to the back of your head and feel the base of your skull. Specially, at the tops of your neck that meets the base of your skull. Massage for a minutes using finger tips gentle in circular movement.

4. Scalp Massage Let your palms of your hands massage your scalp on the top of your skull for a minute gently.

Once you have done all those massages, start taking a deep breath. Lift your shoulders towards your ears for five to 10 seconds to relief remaining pain, and then let them drop back down into their natural position.

You are going to feel better when you can do that for a couple of times. Your massage will relief your headache and your head will feel less weighty.I Hope These Natural Headache Relief Tips Help.Faith, Harmony, Hope, Happiness & Health.

Persons who suffer from migraine headaches know that they can be difficult to deal with. The many medications that doctors prescribe and recommend may work on some folks, but not on others. Or they may work once in a while but not all the time. Telling someone ways to get rid of a migraine headache naturally is hard to comprehend because it is all based on personal trials.

Persons who endure from these painful headaches know when it is coming on. It is almost like their head is in a vice, and it feels like someone is squeezing it tighter and tighter. These kinds of headaches can make folks physically sick and often do. It is not uncommon for a person suffering from a migraine to throw up and feel physically indisposed.

Sometimes sitting in a dark room with the shades drawn can be soothing. Many times aromatherapy can help. Research has shown that headaches can be associated with particular aromas. If that is true, then certain aromas should be able to alleviate them, or at least, help reduce the pain. Some people recommend peppermint, sandalwood, lavender and eucalyptus for relief. They can be used in oils for messages or candles to fill the air.

There are recommendations that placing a very cold, semi frozen towel over the eyes will help sooth a migraine. Placing a wet towel into the freezer for fifteen minutes or so will freeze it up enough to help draw out some of the pain. This may help and offer a little relief and if it does not take it away, it will at least be soothing.

When feeling a headache approaching, some folks believe that if a snack containing salt like potato chips or crackers is consumed, it may keep a headache at bay. Sometimes it does not work, but may be worth a try. Taking notes of the triggers and treatments that works for you is a must. People who are looking at how to get rid of a migraine headache naturally should use common sense to find out what are the particular causes leading to each migraine episode. Many times, the best way to find relief for these painful headaches would be to avoid what triggers the migraine in the first place.

Selecting a Natural Remedy

There are plenty of options when it comes to natural remedies for migraines. Here are some very effective remedies that have been proven to work.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is basically acupuncture done without needles. This Japanese technique goes back centuries. Fingers and thumbs are applied to migraine pressure points. Many people are afforded considerable relief from their migraines using this method.

Acupuncture

This ancient technique uses needles on the migraine pressure points to provide relief. Delicate needle are gently inserted underneath the skin and manipulated. This has provided relief for many migraine sufferers.

Herbal Remedy

MiGone Plus is a gentle herbal remedy that is composed of all herbs. This remedy is based on the theory that migraine headaches are essentially a toxic condition. So, the remedy sets out to restore proper functioning to the organs.

Some people respond favorably to these herbal preparations.

Mineral Remedy

Magnesium is another natural treatment for migraine headaches relief. This mineral is already contained in many of the foods you eat. Your diet may not be providing enough, though.

Magnesium helps to maintain your blood vessels tone , which is crucial in treating migraines. You can find magnesium in powder or tablet form.

Just consult your doctor about the quantity of magnesium you should take.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) Remedy

Riboflavin is also an effective natural treatment for migraine headaches relief. Riboflavin helps to provide ongoing relief. It not only helps to lessen the intensity of migraine attacks, but also the vomiting and nausea as well.

Just make sure to consult your doctor prior to taking Riboflavin if you are pregnant or nursing.

If your headaches become too frequent or intense, you should consult your doctor about a treatment for migraine headaches relief.

Menopause symptoms are caused by fluctuating hormone levels in the female reproductive system and these can be very irritating however 70% of women bear these symptoms while approaching menopause but their effect can be reduced if not completely avoided by using natural remedies. Generally menopause symptoms start to show up in the age around 40, this stage is called pre-menopause and gradually these symptoms get more and more intense as woman gets closer to menopause.

Some common symptoms of menopause are hot and cold flashes, these are sudden and passing waves of heat or warmth experienced in the body and in some cases may even cause redness on face and upper body. Night sweating is also experienced by most of the women in which woman perspires heavily in the night while asleep. These two symptoms generally accompany each other. Vaginal dryness is another symptom associated with menopause causing atrophy of female genitals making it rough and thin. This can also make genitals prone to yeast and bacterial infections.

Irregular menstrual cycle is common symptom of menopause where a female sometimes have very short period of bleeding and on another cycle may have heavy bleeding. In some cases woman skip periods and do not have any bleeding on date. Mood swings are also evident as a woman approaches menopause these mood swings are temporary but make the behavior of the woman very unstable.

Hair loss, loss of concentration, memory lapses can happen to any person but if accompanied by other symptoms of menopause are caused due to hormonal fluctuations in the body of female. Fatigue, dizziness, weight gain, incontinence and brittle nails can be symptoms of many medical conditions and they can be evident in woman approaching menopause too. Some other related symptoms of menopause are change in body odor, more severe headaches, breast pain or softness, aching joints etc but these symptoms alone are not clear evidence of menopause unless accompanied by other symptoms too.

These are the most common natural menopause remedies:

Black Cohosh

Black cohosh is a herb that can effectively treat menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, inability to sleep (insomnia) and anxiety. It is considered as one of the most effective menopause remedies and can be taken by boiling its roots and making a tea out of it. Most commonly, it is taken as an oral supplement because finding a Black Cohosh would be difficult.

Ginseng

Apart from being known to be effective in treating and preventing other known diseases, ginseng has also been known to treat menopausal symptoms such as headaches and insomnia. It can be taken as a beverage (tea) or can be taken in capsule forms. It is one of the known effective menopause remedies that’s why it is most often used even as an alternative to coffee and other common beverages, or included as an ingredient in many beverages nowadays.

St. John’s Wort

Pharmacologically, St. John’s Wort is used to treat depression. Since menopause can also contribute to emotional instabilities, it may lead to a person being depressed. In this light, St. John’s Wort is also used to treat menopause related depression and mood swings.

Red Clover

Red Clover is known as a popular menopause remedy because it mimics the actions of estrogen, the hormone of women. Estrogen, as we all know, is responsible for the woman’s secondary sex characteristics. This hormone also falls short when menopause happens. Since red clove contains phytoestrogens, it lets the body adapt to the decline of the said hormone and relieves headaches, night sweats and the like. It also lessens the possibility of having breast cancer.

Find powerful herbal remedies Hormone Replacement.

Vitamins and Minerals

Since the body’s essential hormones start to decline with the onset of menopause, some menopause remedies may come in the form of vitamins and minerals like Vitamin A, C and E to keep our skin healthy and most importantly Calcium since Calcium and Estrogen have similar actions. This is also one reason why women who are already in the menopausal stage are prone to developing osteoporosis.

Migraines are recurring and one of many various headache varieties, each being classified as either primary or secondary. The most frequently seen primary headaches are tension, also known as stress, migraine, and sinus. Cluster is also a primary headache that occurs rarely. Tension-type headache is the most frequent in the primary grouping while migraine headache is number two. Migraines strike in about 10% of the populace, with about 3/4 experienced in women. You will discover lots of different migraine varieties, but if you want to obtain migraine relief you have to understand which type you experience.

Secondary headaches are the result of a primary health problem. With secondary headaches the headache is the byproduct of a primary health condition including allergy, infectious diseases, brain cancer, or countless other health conditions. Generally, when you can understand how to distinguish between the diverse headache varieties you’ll have a better opportunity of ending up with a course of treatment that will give you the most effective relief from pain.

In terms of migraine headache, the most commonly seen forms are migraine with aura and migraine without aura. Auras are a visual abnormality that most commonly happens less than 60 minutes before the headache, but might occasionally occur while the headache is in progress or after. These vision troubles are short-lived and might appear in lots of varieties including zigzagging patterns of bright light in the field of vision, hallucinations, bright flashes of light, and some other vision abnormalities. Auras are present in about 20% of the time.

As a rule migraine headache varieties are given names based on the body part they affect. The types most commonly seen are hemiplegic, ophthalmoplegic, basilar artery, as well as abdominal. It’s even possible to suffer with a migraine absent the headache. In these instances a person will experience auras or further symptoms, but a headache won’t ever show up.

Abdominal migraine is most commonly felt by youngsters, mainly when you can find a family history for the health disorder. If a child’s parent or sibling suffer with migraine attacks, it’s considerably more probable that a youngster will develop abdominal migraines. It is also more probable that a youngster who suffers with the disorder will suffer from migraine symptoms as an adult as well. As is expected, abdominal pain is a main symptom of this type.

When a migraine begins in one of the eyes it is usually called an optic migraine, specifically considered an ophthalmoplegic migraine. Amongst the distinguishing traits of this type is the likelihood of obtaining paralysis of the eye musculature, also known as ocular nerve palsy. The key visual symptom of paralysis of the eye musculature is eyelid droop. Normally, the drooping eyelid will disappear in a few days or weeks, however, although it’s a very rare occurrence, if someone has repetitive migraines it may lead to a drooping eyelid that never disappears.

The brainstem is where the basilar artery is seen and once it’s disturbed it may be the cause of basilar artery migraines. This condition is normally experienced by women from 20 to 35 years in age and is often preceded by auras. Basilar artery migraine is typically severe in intensity, producing symptoms from just a few hours to a few days.

Not as often experienced are hemiplegic migraines. They’ll commonly first develop in youngsters and then disappear as grownups. They may grow to be severe in nature and cause complete disability. The signs and symptoms can often mimic stroke, but fortunately, any nerve irritation will only be short-lived. In one sufferer the pain symptoms might consist of intense headache with minimal paralysis, but in somebody else they might comprise a minimal headache with severe paralysis.

Accurately determining a migraine headache type can usually be done by taking note of which body part is affected as well as its range of symptoms and warning signs. Conversely, properly determining a headache type might be very difficult from time to time, even for a licensed professional, due to the fact that various signs or symptoms can often overlap between migraine types. The helpful thing concerning migraine headache relief that you should be aware of, is that if you ever expect to locate a successful migraine headache treatment, it all begins with a correct diagnosis.

Helpful migraine headache relief starts with the right diagnosis. You first want to figure out exactly the type of migraine you experience. As soon as you have discovered which type of migraine is causing your symptoms you can then begin relieving the symptoms with safe and natural migraine headache treatment.

Ladies Everywhere have been searching for a Menstural Migraine Treatment. Of the many symptoms that are sometimes associated with menopause, migraines might be the hardest to understand. For women interested by good nutrition and overall good health that also suffer with migraines, finding the best diet during menopause might be particularly troublesome.

Millions of girls suffer with migraine headaches, and therefore have been on the lookout for a proven menstural migraine treatment that doesn’t involve stacks of medicines. The Menopause can be good news for some and unpleasant news for others. It would appear that changing hormonal levels trigger migraine attacks in those that are susceptible. Girls suffering from monthly or menstrual migraines find that they have fewer headaches during menopause and post-menopause as hormone levels become lower, but more stable. On the other hand, women who only had migraines during puberty, when hormonal levels were changing seriously, sometimes see them return during menopause and the years leading in to menopause, because, once more, hormone levels are changing.

Many women note a relationship between their menstrual cycles and migraine headaches, experiencing more headaches on the days of the cycle when estrogen levels are at their lowest. Logically, this relationship caused researchers to suspect that low levels of estrogen triggered the headaches. This should be one way towards your menstural migraine treatment.
Doctors have noted an increase in migraine attacks among girls taking contraception pills containing high quantities of estrogen. No one knows exactly what effect estrogen and other hormones have on the neural pathways in the brain or on the chemicals that transmit signals among them, but it is clear that there’s an effect. Avoiding menopause migraines will likely need an individual approach to treatment, recording private triggers and making adjustments in medicines.

Migraines can be triggered by different foods and beverages. Many of those are personal triggers, only inspiring a tiny low number of women. Some of the foods and substances that ordinarily trigger migraines include caffeine, chocolate, and the food preservative MSG, aged cheeses, alcohol, and food additives known as nitrates found in hot dogs, pepperoni and other saved meats. Either excess caffeine consumption or withdrawal from caffeine can trigger migraines.

The best diet during menopause for heart health is one that basically consists of fruits and vegetables, using meats as a side dish. A whole grain, such as oatmeal, which is high in diet fiber and low in fat, is also a sensible choice. Even, if it claims multi grain on the label, check the ingredients. You would like the prime ingredient to be a grain, for example oats. Wheat flour also contributes to distension and irregularity in women over forty.
Calcium reinforcement is good insurance for bone health, but be sure to include sufficient amounts of vitamin D and magnesium. Else the body cannot properly soak up the calcium. A good diet supplement for girls during menopause can increase energy and overall feeling of contentment. Another diet consideration for preventing menopause migraines is tryptophan, an amino acid found in numerous foods, but mainly dairy products and also rolled oats. Not to be confused with triptans, which are pharmaceuticals infrequently prescribed to prevent menopause migraines and cluster headaches, but a dietary part with an analogous action. 5-HTP is a form of tryptophan that is included in some diet additions designed particularly for women.

Migraine is a neurological disease, and person suffering from this disease often gets the attack of severe unbearable headache. The headache often accompanied with other problems such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness and gastrointestinal disturbances. With the onset of such problems, one finds it difficult to combat the problem and carry on the daily activities smoothly. Migraine headache is one of the most severe forms of headaches which affect millions of people every year. Modern treatment methods are aimed at addressing just the pain of the headache and not the root cause. It is recommended to resort to Natural Migraine treatment methods to treat the problem at its roots and prevent its recurrence.

The important minerals that are effective in combating migraine are magnesium and calcium. The dark green leafy vegetables and seafood are best natural source for both magnesium and calcium. The other sources of magnesium are beans and whole grains, and for calcium, dairy products are ideal. It is advisable to incorporate dairy products and dark green leafy vegetables in the daily diet.

Cure Migraine

Ice-Wrap Towel: One of the best natural remedies is ice-warp. You can of course buy ice-wraps at your local drugstore but you can also create it at your home if you like. To create an ice-wrap, just take out a towel, wet it thoroughly in water then wring the water out of it and fold it in such a way that you can place it in your freezer. Keep it in your freezer for about five minutes, or until the towel begins to stiffen.

Salt: Do you know that salt can cure migraine? If you want to cure migraine fast, just get a packet of salty corn chips for yourself. You can also eat fried foods that are rich in salt. It is not often that we are encouraged to eat salt.

To understand about how to cure and lessen migraine pain, you first need to learn about what causes these terrific headaches. It has been said that migraines are associated with people who are perfectionists and drive themselves relentlessly in order to succeed.

The potential cure for migraine headaches can’t come soon enough for those suffering from migraines. Migraine isn’t simply a regular headache; it entails severe pain, typically around the eyes, temples, or ears. It may also involve vomiting, nausea, and sensitivity to sound and light.

There is no definitive cure for migraine headaches so far; each person will have unique triggers that start their migraines. Each person will have to find the best way to treat their migraines, as each person is different. Even though there is no standardized cure for migraine headaches, there are a few ways of treating them.

My girlfriend eats Ibuprofen like Pac Man eats little white dots. One thing i’ve learned from her headaches is the need for a natural migraine cure. Some medications put her to sleep for hours, some make her sick, some don’t do anything at all. There doesn’t seem to be silver bullet for migraines or any real natural migraine cure so i’ve made a list of things that at least make a difference.

1. Water.

Dehydration is a major headache trigger. Coffee, smoking, alcohol, and plain old not drinking enough water can set a migraine off. Stay hydrated!

2. Chemicals.

Avoid MSG, Aspartame, phenylketoneurics and many other chemicals found in just about every processed food product can cause reactions. Maybe your headaches are due to food allergies so take an inventory of manufactured chemicals that could be migraine culprits.

3. Stretch.

Regular yoga makes my girlfriend relaxed, happy, calm and lighthearted. This, in my opinion, is probably the most natural migraine cure that exists. If you don’t want to do yoga you can at least stretch. Stretch your neck, your back, move your shoulders, your lower back, and generally loosen up all the way around.

4. Pull your energy downward.

Chinese medicine professes that too much chi in your head can cause headaches. Pull your energy downward by focusing on a spot a foot and half below your feet. With practice you will learn to move your body’s energy around and direct it out of your head and down into your body.

I’m a big fan of yogic hand gestures called mudras. The “large head” mudra will pull your energy downward automatically. Fold your ring finger into your palm and touch your thumb to your first and middle fingers. Do this with both hands for 15 or 20 minutes. That’s the large head mudra.

5. Hand massage.

Massage the meaty part of your hand between your thumb and forefinger. There is a pressure point located there that is great for headaches and toothaches.

6. Clean your sinuses.

Drink lemon water, cayenne pepper, and ginger to clear out your sinuses and keep any pressure from building up in your neck and head.

7. Apple cider vinegar.

Organic apple cider has a cleansing affect on you internally. You know how you can clean a dishwasher or a coffee maker by running vinegar through it? Same principle applies here. Drink a mixture of a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, hot water, lemon juice and honey and you will be amazed at the energy and “clean” feeling you will get.

8. Hot and cold.

A hot bath coupled with ice packs on the throbbing parts of your head can shock your headache away.

9. Focus on it.

If pain is a signal and you avoid the message it may intensify to get your attention. go in to your headache and concentrate on it as much as you can. it will change, I promise. I know it’s weird, but paying real attention to your pain will make it start changing shape and move around. check how you represent the headache to yourself and change its features. make it switch colors, density, shape, volume. This is a big start to seeing that you may have some control over your body and what it does.

10. Big life problem.

My girlfriend swears that she “divorced her migraines” by ending a very unhealthy marriage. I don’t know what that says about me if she still gets the occasional headache, but it’s still not the same, she says. I’ve heard other people say that the major life issue that was the “pain in the neck” for them was, in retrospect, a main cause of stress and consequently their migraines. Do what you need to do to make your life the way you really want it and see if your internal struggle is manifesting as headaches.

Some claim that the potassium in bananas is a natural migraine cure. Feverfew is also thought to be a natural migraine cure.

Whilst headaches are an unfortunate common occurance for many people, once you have an understanding of their causes, the remedy for curing them does not have to be medicinal, but a natural method that will provide your whole being with benefits beyond that as a cure for headache pain.

In general, it is difficult to pinpoint the precise cause of an infrequently occurring muscle tension or vascular headache, but sometimes the anatomy of the headache—how it starts, where the pain is felt, and how long it lasts—provides valuable clues about its source.

Originally, it was accepted that there were just two simple explanations to thew source of headache pain. Vascular, such as migraines, occurred when blood vessels that supplied the brain and muscles of the head and neck dilated or were constricted. Tension headaches were thought to result from the tensing and contracting of muscles of the head, face, and neck in response to physical stress, such as injury or emotional distress.

However, it is now understood that there are complex chemical changes in the brain associated with pain. Tension headaches are associated with neurochemicals in the brain —varying levels of serotonin, endorphins and other chemicals that serve as neurotransmitters (substances that nerves use to send messages to one another) helping nerves to communicate.

These chemical changes observed in headache sufferers may cause, or be caused by, muscle tension. It is possible that tensed muscles in the neck and scalp may trigger a headache in someone with altered neurochemical levels or, on the other hand, the neck and scalp muscles may be tensing in response to these neurochemical changes. The rise and fall of these chemicals are thought to not only activate pain pathways to the brain but also interfere with the brain’s own capacity to suppress the pain. By adopting the benefits of massage therapy, muscle tension can be eased thus reducing the causes of headaches.

As headaches often result from or involve pain referred from problems associated with the bones and muscles in the neck, shoulder, and back, massage focusing on the cervical spine (the vertebrae in the neck behind the skull) can help to relieve headache pain. Shiatsu massage, a Japanese technique in which pressure is applied with the fingers, thumbs and palm to acupuncture points, also may help to reduce headache pain. Another therapeutic touch technique that seems to help sufferers is known as the Trager Approach. This techniques uses massage to literally stretch the body’s muscles and joint in order to enhance relaxation.

Some tension headaches may be relieved by a specific form of massage therapy called trigger point therapy (TrP). Trigger point therapy is the application of pressure to specific points such as along the trapezius muscles (the muscles extending from the base of the skull to mid-back located along the spine) and sternocleidomastoid muscles (muscles on either side of the neck). This pressure interrupts the nerve signals that not only cause the headache pain but also create the trigger point. This massage therapy aims to relieve pain and to re-educate the muscles so they assume healthy positions and postures that do not generate pain. The beneficial effect of massage therapies to manipulate the body’s muscular structure is now a recognised method of natural treatment for the causes of headaches. Whether a full soothing body massage or therapy concentrating on the back and neck, facial or head, the techniques used can reduce stress levels and improve blood circulation leaving the person feeling relaxed and refreshed.

There are many different causes of headaches, but the two main types are tension and migraine. The triggers and treatments of the two share some characteristics, but are not alike.

Tension headaches usually result from tension in the muscles of the face, scalp, neck or shoulders in response to anxiety or stress. The muscles squeeze the nerves and constrict the blood supply which causes pain and pressure.

Tension can be triggered by eyestrain, grinding of teeth, too much light or noise, poor posture, stress, among other things. The pain is usually dull and steady… feels as if there is a band squeezing the head, and usually accompanied with tension in the neck and shoulders.

Migraine headaches throb when blood vessels in the head expand more than normal, usually in response to food allergies, hormonal changes, stress, among other things.

Migraines are typically characterized by pounding, throbbing, debilitating pain on one side of the head, with or without visual disturbances and sometimes accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Migraine pain can last for hours or days.

Natural Remedies For Tension Headaches

1. Self massage and acupressure can help. There are two key points for reducing the pain. The first being the web between the forefinger and thumb. Squeeze there until you feel pain. The second point is under the bony ridges at the back of the neck. Using both thumbs apply pressure.

2. Sleeping on your stomach or in an awkward position can cause the muscles in your neck to contract and trigger a headache. Sleeping on your back with a rolled towel under your neck helps.

3. Give your face and scalp a workout. Make intense faces by raising your eyebrows, squinting your eyes, frowning, yawning and wrinkling your nose. Squeeze quickly, hold briefly, then relax.

4. Soon as you feel the tension in your temples, sip on a cup of herbal white willow bark tea. It contains the active ingredient in aspirin – salicylic acid. Using one teaspoon of dried willow bark to one cup of boiling water, let steep for five to ten minutes, strain and sip while it is warm.

5. For fast relief, simply rub a 10% peppermint oil solution into the temples and forehead along with a dose of acetaminophen. The combination of the two will bring relief faster.

6. Relaxation of the neck and shoulder muscles is the best way to relieve tension headaches. Learning to relax the trapezius muscles reduces the intensity and duration of a headache by half.

7. If you rely on over the counter medicine you can cause headache rhythms that can only be controlled by increasing the doses. Long term use of these medicines on a regular basis makes you vulnerable to “rebound” potential. Not to mention that they may cause nausea and other side effects that may be worse than the headache.

8. Evening primrose oil helps to dilate the blood vessels easing tension headaches. Take 500 milligram capsules two to three times a day.

9. Skullcap helps ease tension headaches. Drink up to 3 cups of tea daily OR use commercial supplements following package directions. Skullcap is best taken after a meal.

Natural Remedies For Migraine Headaches

1. Tying a cloth around your head (headband style) will decrease blood flow to the scalp and lessen the throbbing and pounding of a migraine.

2. Many migraine and tension headaches stem from a slight deficiency of magnesium. If this is your cause, magnesium oxide supplements should bring relief. Take 250 to 400 milligram doses, three times a day. Start low and increase as needed. **NOTE** Magnesium supplements should not be taken by anyone with kidney trouble.

3. Feverfew may reduce frequency and intensity of headaches. Take 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of fluid extract three times daily -OR- take tablets or capsules following package directions.

4. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory agent that can be effective for treating a migraine. Take 500 milligram capsules 4 times a day -OR- 100 to 200 milligrams of standardized extract 3 times a day for prevention or every two hours (no more than 6 times a day) to treat acute migraines.

5. Valerian reduces stress and eases headache pain. Make a decoction using 2 teaspoons dried root in 8 ounces of boiling water. Simmer for 10 minutes. Drink 1 cup daily as needed.

6. SAMe may help in the prevention of a migraine, however, long term treatment is required for significant benefits. Use a commercial product following package directions. Be patient, it may take up to six weeks before results are apparent.

7. 5-HTP raises serotonin levels and helps relieve headaches. Several studies have shown excellent results with 5-HTP in the treatment of both tension and migraine headaches. Take 100 to 200 milligrams three times daily.

When To Get Help

Headaches can be warning signs of serious health problems; such as, meningitis, encephalitis or brain abnormalities.

If a headache follows a head injury or immediately after a sudden cough or sneeze, occurs each morning along with nausea or accompanied by fever, stiff neck, lethargy or vomiting, call the doctor.

Also call the doctor if headaches become more severe over time or occur once a week or more, have changed location or are accompanied by neurological symptoms such as numbness, dizziness, blurred vision or memory loss.

Age-old Herbs shows how “self defense” is natures oldest law on how to prevent your health concerns with natural healing herbs by means of herbal and nutritional supplements. To protect your health visit www.age-oldherbs.com

People all over are suffering from a migraine headache right now. And we all know just how painful and irritating one can be. And what almost everyone does is when they have a migraine is to take some sort of medication. But this is not the best or safest way to stop the pain. There are many different ways you can get rid of migraine headaches besides using prescription medication. You can actually stop a migraine using natural methods. All you need to do is start following a few easy steps.

If you want to stop experiencing migraine headaches then you need to start eating better. Eating foods high in fat and sugar are the worst. All they do is make the pain from your headache worse. They do not do anything. So instead you need to eat foods that are higher in vitamins and nutrients. These will help you to eliminate those migraine headaches.
