When you are pregnant, you should prevent having any kind of contact with a kitty’s kitty kitty litter box. Cats can hold a parasite that causes a condition called toxoplasmosis which can be transferred to you thru their kitty. To avoid virtually any chance of being infected with this disease it’s best to leave the kitty litter obligation to someone else.

Make sure the h2o you’re consuming during your having a baby is safe. Tap h2o may contain fluoride, percholate, and also lead, although bottled water may contain the same pollutants as well as other chemicals such as BPA. As an alternative, invest in a regular faucet water filter, and use a stainless steel or perhaps glass h2o bottle when out of the house.

Get a childbirth course. Classes are provided in many doctors’ offices and online Matters covered consist of nutrition, exercise, rest, epidural anesthesia, pain relief in work, preparing for labour and labor, as well as nursing and baby care. Classes are generally provided once a 7 days over a 6 to eight 7 days period. Research has revealed that couples that attend regular labor classes are prepared and relaxed during childbirth.

The same as everyone else does, pregnant women should make sure to protect their particular skin just before spending an abundant amount of in time the sun. A lady’s skin is more sensitive when they are pregnant and they may be easily sunburned, which in turn, might cause more serious issues like cancer of the skin.

Be sure to become knowledgeable about your being pregnant. Choose a guide that you will examine that will direct you through your being pregnant. There are many publications out there which take you through an individual pregnancy few days by week and will solution any questions you could have. Be aware though that you will not encounter everything that a person read because each having a baby is different.

To prevent heartburn during pregnancy, you will want to keep from eating close to bedtime. You will need to allow 2 or 3 hours for your foods to digest prior to lying down. Furthermore, you will want to sleep propped on pillows to stay improved so your abdomen acids keep where they may be meant to be.

If you get a headaches when you are pregnant, make certain to stay away from pain killers. Aspirin has been confirmed to cause harm in both an expectant mother as well as baby. It is best to inquire your doctor what medications are safe for you to make use of. Also, try out relieving head pressure through the use of a cool reduce.

Exercising before and during pregnancy is actually a key to getting a healthy baby. It’s not only good for you together with your baby, but you are less likely to have a miscarriage if you commence and maintain a reasonable exercise program. Exercise also lessens problems of labor as well as makes the birthing process go more quickly.

It’s all great to hear advice during your pregnancy, especially unwelcome advice. I’m sure you’ve been told by one person or another how to live. Am I right? It only gets worse the further along in your pregnancy you are. Someone will want to tell you that you shouldn’t bend, or walk a certain way, not to pick up a baby in case you hurt the one in your stomach or put yourself in labor. As the pregnancy gets closer to the due date you’ll be told many different home remedies of how to put yourself in labor. Got a headache? Someone can tell you exactly what to drink to get rid of it without any medication, remember it is important to ask a doctor before trying to take something you’ve never tried before doing it. But the most fun I have during the course of the 9-10 months stretch is hearing all the wives tales, also known as myths.

I’m pretty sure you aren’t going to even care at this point what sex the baby is, all you want is for the morning sickness to stop. You may even be counting down the days until the first trimester is over. Chances are if you morning sickness someone is bound to tell you what sex of the baby is. One wives tale is if you are having severe morning sickness is a sign you are having a girl.

Here’s a wives tale that is a lot of fun and you can test it on everyone in your household. Take a thin piece of string or your hair, slide your ring down it, hold it above your belly and let the ring dangle above it. If the rings spins in a circle it is a boy, but if it goes from one side to the other, it is a girl. Once you’ve tried it out on your tummy, get someone in your house and do it above their hand. Does the ring spin in a circle above your husband’s hand? Hmm, is it really and old wives tale or is there really something to it?

Many women claim to suffer from bouts of heartburn during the pregnancy, according to the old wives tell this would mean your baby will be born with a head full of hair. Right before the end of your first trimester your doctor will listen to your baby’s heart rate, this is to make sure the baby is doing alright. The wives tale goes, if the heart rate is high it is a girl and a low one is a boy.

Ever have someone tell you that you are carrying high or low and wonder what that really means? Basically if you are carrying your baby low it is closer to your abdomen, a high baby is closer to your chest. Look at yourself in the mirror. How is your baby sitting? The old tale says that if you are carrying high it is a girl, carrying low is a boy.

Wives tales can be a lot of fun but keep in mind these aren’t fact. Don’t go preparing your child’s room just because one of these told you, you were going to have a girl.

for a long time now i hav been in pain, physical pain. here is some background info about my condition. i am 15 yrs old and i hav had chronic daily headaches for four yrs now. what that means is i get 7 to 10 headaches every single day, the pain is anywhere from 4 to 10 (on a numbers scale) it depends on the headache. any ways i hav tried almost everything to get rid of my headaches. i hav taken 9 different preventative meds, seen multiple neurologists and pediatricians, psychiatrists and various other doctors. all of them hav found nothing wrong that would be causing my headaches. i hav seen an allergist recently and ive had my tonsils and adenoids removed. other than the daily headaches i am a perfectly normal teenage girl. 5′ 3″, 103 pounds. but this pain is ruining my life, and if i dont get better soon im going to commit suicide. please offer any advice that you hav or any medical recommendations. thanks srry this is so long
i hav seen a psychiatrist and i take meds for depression b/c of all the pain im in. but my psychiatrist couldn’t find anything psychologically wrong with me

A headache, when it strikes, is not very pleasant to contend with. It may strike you on a daily basis when you get up or it might be sudden and/or severe. For example, imagine a situation where you have taken your kid outside with plans of a full-fledged picnic just for the two of you. The plan, along with the overjoyed child, may be spoilt because your headache strikes just as you are ready to leave.

There can be innumerable such situations in which headache can disrupt your daily life. The best solution in this condition would be to avoid it in the first place. It can be done by following a few simple steps:

Maintaining a headache diary:

Maintain a headache diary and see what triggers your headache. In some people, noise might be the causative factor while in others it may be an excess of caffeine. So observe what triggers your headache and then avoid that.

Avoiding tobacco or any kind of smoke:

Avoid tobacco or anything to do with it. Smoking is not only injurious to health but it may trigger very bad headaches in those susceptible to smoke.

Taking proper meals:

Have your proper meals at regular intervals of time. Do not skip meals.

Sleeping right:

Go to bed at a proper time each night and try to secure at least eight hours of sleep. However, don’t overdo it as oversleeping is also bad. It is sometimes oversleeping, which may lead to a headache.

Avoiding the sun:

Too much of sun can also give you a headache. So try to avoid going out under a very harsh sun.

Keeping hydrated at all times:

Keep yourself hydrated at all times by having plenty of water and fluids, especially when you are under the sun. Dehydration can also lead to a very bad headache.

Taking alcohol in moderation:

Alcohol causes headaches in several people. So, try to avoid alcohol in the first place.

Avoiding too tight hairstyles:

Women, beware!! Do not wear your hair too tightly in ponytails as that may lead to a tension-type headache.

Keeping your feet warm:

Keep your feet warm, especially during the winters. You can do this by keeping your feet covered. There is no harm in even wearing your socks to bed.

Applying hot and cold packs:

You can use heat and cold to your advantage. With some people, it is the application of a cold pack which gives them relief whereas with others, hot showers and massages. See what works for you and use it.

Letting in enough natural air:

The excess of artificial lighting can trigger a headache in susceptible individuals. See if you are letting in enough natural air and sunshine. Do not subject yourself to stuffy atmospheres and conditions.

Going for regular checkups:

Be under the regular supervision of a doctor and avoid taking medicines on your own. A regular check up will help you identify a problem at its onset and you could then arrest it effectively.

Leading a healthy lifestyle:

Try to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.

Avoiding Stress:

Although stress is a part and parcel of every day modern living, do try to minimize it.

These steps would help you arrest your headaches even before they begin. So follow these steps and take good care of yourself.

They’ve gotten to the point where I have a headache almost constantly. Some headaches feel different from each other. Some are pounding headaches, while others are mild and seem to be associated with fatigue.I have bad sinuses and have only had minimal success with sinus headache medicine. I also have anxiety and was told some of my headaches are tension headaches. But even after trying anti anxiety pills, I had found little relief. Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Acetomenophen and Naproxen Sodium have not worked at all. I’ve even resorted to “head on”. No success. Any suggestions for alternative treatments? Or possibly alternative diagnoses? Thanks.

Headache treatment

Most headaches are caused by muscle spasms in the back of the head and neck. The spasm can be sparked by emotional stress or by holding the head in a fixed position for long hours. At times the pain can be extremely severe and feels as if the head is in a vise-like band.

Relaxing tight muscles through massage, hot showers and heating pads or cold packs, including biofeedback and muscle-relaxation training may prove to be helpful.

While some people find relief with non-traditional techniques, like acupuncture, hypnosis or meditation, non-prescription pain relievers often help with occasional headache. In very severe cases, prescription analgesics like aspirin and acetaminophen may also do the trick.

However, prescription analgesics are not always useful because they tend to lose their effectiveness, encourage dependency, and cause “rebound” headaches when the effect of the starts to wear off. On the other hand, tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline or Imipramine could prove to be a less addictive and often more effective alternative; these medications affect the pain pathways in the brain. Nonetheless, these drugs must be used for several weeks before they can take effect. Since much lower doses are needed for pain, there are generally few or no side effects.

Drugs that help constrict blood vessels may also relieve pain if taken at the first sign of the headache.

What are the different types of headaches?

There are several types of headaches; almost 150 diagnostic headache categories have been established! However, the most frequently reported ones include:

Tension headache: Also called chronic daily headaches or chronic non-progressive headaches. These headaches are the most common and generally affect both adults and adolescents. These headaches come on when the muscles contract that cause mild to moderate pain and come and go over a prolonged period of time.

Migraines: There exact cause is unknown, although it is understood that they are related to blood vessel contractions and other changes in the brain as well as inherited abnormalities in certain areas of the brain. Pain can often be anything from moderate to severe, and is often described as pounding, throbbing pain. The pain last for about 4 hours to 3 days and generally occurs 1 to 4 times per month. Moreover, migraines are associated with sensitivity to light, noise or odours; nausea or vomiting; loss of appetite; and stomach upset or abdominal pain.

When children have a migraine they often look pale, feel dizzy, have blurred vision, fever, stomach upset, in addition to the above listed symptoms. A small number of pediatric migraine patients have recurrent gastrointestinal symptoms, in which vomiting is the most common symptom. These migraines are also referred to as abdominal migraines.

Mixed headache: Also known as transformed migraines, this is a combination of migraine and tension headaches.

Headaches are becoming more common in these times. Many stressors have cropped up that weren’t there before, including stress at work, financial concerns and relationship problems and uncertainties about the future. You may already have an idea what triggers your pain and what you want to know more about headache relief.

Your headache relief regimen starts with finding the root cause for your pain. Is it improper posture? Improper posture is a very common cause of headaches because it makes the back muscles stiff and constricted, preventing blood from circulating properly to your head and neck and decreasing oxygen supply. Correcting improper posture is one way to achieve headache relief. Practice correct breathing by taking deep inhalations and exhalations. When working on your computer, avoid slouching and lean back as much as possible. Elevate your feet and massage your neck and shoulders every now and then. Occasional shrugs of the shoulders and a roll of the neck relaxes tense muscles. A little goes a long way in this case and headache relief is just a few movements away.

Sensory Input Overload

An overload of sensory input involving the eyes and ears can also produce headache. Even if you try to ignore all the sights and sounds around you, your brain involuntarily processes them. It is a function which the brain has no control over, so everything that stirs your five senses is automatically sorted out. But its processing capacity is limited and too much data to evaluate will cause it to resist, producing pain.

Headache relief is obtained by turning down the volume of background music. If this is not possible, consider wearing ear plugs to keep out loud or unwanted sound. Some scents can also be overpowering. It could be the cologne or body spray of an officemate or someone you ride with in the lift. A fan near you to disperse the smell can provide headache relief. The glare from overhead lights or the computer screen can also cause headaches. Try dimming a few lights and put a glare guard on the screen. Knowing these information can help bring headache relief.

Relaxation Techniques for Headache Sufferers

Joining in yoga or meditation programs can relive you of tension and is an effective headache relief. If the spiritual aspect is not your thing, you don’t have to engage in it. Yoga is an excellent method of stretching the body and regulating one’s breathing. This will loosen stiff and tense muscles and thus give you headache relief. Enrolling in meditation will show you the power of reflection and positive thinking. Pleasant memories from the past or making plans for the future can distract you from present concerns and rest your mind. Building a protective wall around yourself by turning your thoughts inward to something positive can help you with emotional problems. Through meditation you are given a huge headache relief. It won’t hurt to try out these tips and see if they are effective. It’s almost guaranteed that they will liberate you from headaches.

Having a migraine headache can be the worst feeling in the world. Sensitivity to light; noise, even movement can cause a migraine headache to increase in pain. If you have ever had a migraine, you know it can leave you irritated and, at times, debilitated for as long as it lasts. Well, there is some good news for migraine sufferers. There are natural headache relief solutions to this on-going problem.

The cause of migraine is unknown. The condition may result from a series of reactions in the central nervous system caused by changes in the body or in the environment. There is often a family history of the disorder, suggesting that migraine sufferers may inherit sensitivity to triggers that produce inflammation in the blood vessels and nerves around the brain, causing pain.

Migraine pain is often described as throbbing or pulsating pain that is intensified by routine physical activity, coughing, straining, or lowering the head. The headache is often so severe that it interferes with daily activity and may awaken the person. The attack is debilitating, and migraine sufferers are often left feeling tired and weak once the headache has passed.

A migraine typically begins in a specific area on one side of the head, then spreads and builds in intensity over 1 to 2 hours and then gradually subsides. It can last up to 24 hours, and in some cases, several days. Some of the causes of migraine headaches may be attributed to the following:

- Did you forego your caffeine fix in the morning? This would certainly bring on a migraine, at least for most of us.

- Perhaps your body is filled with toxins. Drink plenty of water every day to eliminate the potential pain.

- Exercise is a great stress-reliever. Stress induces headaches, and therefore a proper exercise regimen is in order. Yoga can help maintain a calm and balanced you.

- Are you lacking sleep? This can also cause migraines to occur. Sleep deprivation can cause many problems; so ensure you are receiving at least seven to eight hours sleep a night.

- Another factor which may cause a migraine may be in the food you consume. MSG in Chinese food, or caffeine in chocolate, and nitrates in processed foods are the main culprits.

- Alcohol can also cause migraines, specifically red wine.

- Hormonal changes can also contribute to migraines. Check with your doctor to determine what methods can be followed to relieve your pain.

Headaches are, unfortunately, a fact of life. We all live in a world where everything has to be accomplished yesterday, and there doesn’t seem to be room enough to enjoy life. To avoid migraine headaches, improving your diet, exercise, and overall health is the only way to eliminate the pain, and often help control the causes of migraine headaches which keep you from living each day to its fullest.

Both adults and children experience this type of headache.

Cluster headaches: The term “cluster headache” refers to a characteristic grouping of attacks. The pain is generally located behind one eye or in the eye region, and does not change sides.

These headaches normally occur one to three times per day, lasting anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months. The headaches may go into remission for months or years, only to recur one fine day.

Sinus headaches: Associated with a deep and constant pain in the cheekbones, forehead or bridge of the nose, the pain generally intensifies with sudden head movement or straining. Moreover, it usually occurs with other sinus symptoms, like nasal discharge, feeling of fullness in the ears, fever, and facial swelling.

A number of Dentists are now offering Neuromuscular Dentistry, which is a special branch of Dentistry focusing on the nerves, muscles, and the correct positioning of the jaw. Neuromuscular dentistry will help treat TMJ disorder, which causes long lasting and frequent headaches. TMJ syndrome occurs when the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) that connects the upper and lower jaw is misaligned or stressed. This interference in the structure of the teeth causes the muscles to position the joints out of their sockets and forces the upper and lower teeth to fit together, causing the pain. Other common causes of TMJ are rheumatoid arthritis, airway obstruction, injuries, including whiplash and dislocation or displacement of the disk that is situated in between the socket and the jawbone.

TMJ disorder is a fairly new area of Neuromuscular Dentistry, though with ongoing advances in Neuromuscular Dentistry, there are a number of treatments for headaches caused by TMJ syndrome that will remove the symptoms permanently. Common symptoms of tmj include, headaches or migraine, clicking of the jaw, limited jaw motions, grinding or clenching of the teeth and ear pain or congestion. Treatment of TMJ vary from simple interventions such as application of cold and hot packs on the affected area, trigger point therapy, diet modification, posture correction and relaxation of the temporomandibular joints.

Treatments for TMD More complex treatments such as physical therapy and wearing of TMJ splint or surgery may be required.

You dentist will perform a thorough evaluation of your particular situation and then prescribe an appropriate treatment to relief the symptoms. Every person responds differently to TMJ treatments, however the vast majority will experience an improvement in their TMJ symptoms. If you want to eliminate those unbearable tension headaches or more server migraines caused by TMJ pain, then it is worth talking to your dentist about a treatment plan for you. If you require a more advanced dental treatments plan, it is best to contact your local dentist.

Dr Jim Ironside is a dentist based in Sydney with a special interest in TMJ treatment. For more information please visit http://www.tmj-sleep-dentist-sydney.com.au

i also have some back pain, vericose veins in one leg, some weight gain, etc.
i decided to do some reasearch on hormone imbalance and found that many women become estrogen dominant as we age. which is the reason we females experience a host of problems even as early as in our late twenties. so i found that a progesterone cream is the best remedy to combat many of the negative symtoms that we experience as a result of aging.

has anyone tried this progesterone cream? and do you agree that such a treatment does work?,

please respond, i think i really need this.

Most Americans suffering from migraine headache attacks have been praying for a cure for years. Sometimes it begins to take hold as an inexplicable drowsiness, fever and slight temple tension. Before the afflicted realizes, they’re in bed with nausea and numbness, unable to do anything other than pop a few pain relievers and wait for the incapacitating pain to subside.

Recent research suggests that most people who get migraines more than once a week, for weeks at a time and are taking over the counter medicines actually increase the risk of the headache’s imminent return. Instead, cold washcloths, exercise, herbal supplements and more natural remedies may be the cure.

Traditional Chinese medicine has been around for nearly 5,000 years, offering natural remedies for migraine sufferers. Things like Chinese acupuncture, Chinese massage and herbal supplements can be much more enjoyable than popping an Excedrin or simply waiting it out. It’s often hard to pinpoint exactly what causes a migraine because it varies from individual to individual.

The basic idea, many Chinese doctors say, is that your body’s telling you something is blocking your natural homeostasis. Ideally, rectifying this requires a combination of procedures, environmental shifts and a little bit of philosophical meandering.

Chinese Massage is one of the natural remedies used to treat a migraine headache. It’s not such a bad idea to book an appointment on your lunch hour to run out and have a calming, rejuvenating massage that will help ease your headache and get you through the rest of the day. Rather than a clinic, look for a well-respected spa environment that offers Chinese massages for the best results.

Upon entering the spa, you’ll realize that it’s more of a spiritual experience than a medical procedure. Calming instrumental music plays, incense and essential oils fill your nostrils and you’re invited to put on a robe and sandals, and enjoy a cup of tea before you begin. Lying on the table, you will feel all of your cares and head tension melt away and you’ll leave floating on a cloud, glad you made the trip, rather than popping one or more pain relievers.

The aisles are littered with over the counter medicines and pain relievers offering superficial migraine headache relief. However, you shouldn’t be a slave to these high-priced chemicals.

Doctors from the school of Chinese medicine indicate that your head pain comes from an imbalance between your body and your external environment. If you’ve struggled with many different treatments over the years, alternative therapies like Chinese acupuncture or herbal supplements are recommended. You just might be surprised!

The cluster headache has two main characteristics. First, the cluster headache is extremely painful. The pain is so intense that some sufferers even feel that the condition is life threatening, which it is not. The second characteristic is the cyclical nature of the cluster headache. They tend to come a certain times and then last for several weeks or months and then disappear, sometimes for years, only to return again. So, before seeking cluster headache treatment, be sure that it is indeed what you are suffering from.

The best cluster headache treatment available is abortive oxygen treatment. The patient inhales pure oxygen through a mask for several minutes until the pain is gone. This treatment is very successful for many sufferers. Often, through oxygen inhalation the pain will be gone after just a few minutes. For others the relief may only be temporary and return after the sufferer stops inhaling the oxygen.

The only problem with the use of oxygen in cluster headache treatment is the inconvenience. Oxygen tanks are bulky, heavy and difficult to carry around with you. Many people are able to have them in their home in preparation for the onset of an attack. However, attacks may come when driving or while at work. Unless you purchase apparatus for home, car and work, then oxygen cluster headache treatment may not be always be available to you.

There are also some pharmaceutical options for cluster headache treatment. Imitrex (sumatriptan) is an injection that is often used to treat migraine headaches but has also been found to be effective with cluster headaches. Imitrex has side effects that the sufferer will want to consider together with their doctor before using this option.

There is also an IV drug that can be used for cluster headache treatment. It’s called dihydroergotamine and requires the sufferer to go to the doctor’s office to have the drug administered intravenously. This headache remedy is likewise very inconvenient because it requires a visit to the doctor’s office.

Consider the Cause of Your Headaches

Remember that even though we must depend on doctors to help us with cluster headache treatment, they aren’t always successful at diagnosing illnesses. What may have all the symptoms of a cluster headache may in fact be something entirely different. For example, some foods cause headaches in some people. If you eat these foods occasionally, then the headaches they cause you may behave like cluster headaches, coming and going in episodes. Or, some foods may cause you headaches only some of the time. Since the pain would come in episodes the headaches would appear to be of the cluster variety.

If you are diagnosed with having cluster headaches, you should listen to your doctor, however don’t give up experimenting with your diet to see if some foods may actually be the cause. Or, if something you are eating is not causing the headaches, it could be making them more painful.

Finally, are you out of shape and don’t eat healthily? Even though exercise and diet are not scientifically established causes of cluster headaches, I would definitely consider exercising more and eating better if I was consistently in a lot of pain. It is my sneaking suspicion that a lot of ailments are the result of a poor lifestyle and not just inevitable and unlucky occurrences we have no control over.
