What are some alternatives to anti-inflammatory drugs to treat headaches?
Any possibly over the counter? I’ve had headaches for about 10 years now. I’m only 17. They’ve gotten to the point where I have a headache almost constantly. Some headaches feel different from each other. Some are pounding headaches, while others are mild and seem to be associated with fatigue.I have bad sinuses and have only had minimal success with sinus headache medicine. I also have anxiety and was told some of my headaches are tension headaches. But even after trying anti anxiety pills, I had found little relief. Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Acetomenophen and Naproxen Sodium have not worked at all. I’ve even resorted to “head on”. No success. Any suggestions for alternative treatments? Or possibly alternative diagnoses? Thanks.

I get nasty nasty cracking headaches and migraines if i eat high sugar fruits such as oranges, bananas, apples, mangoes …. try switching to low sugar fruits such as watermelon, strawberries or pears for 5 days and see if that makes a difference.
It could very well be food allergies or intolerances …… or chemical sensitivities which can greatly affect your health and vitality …….what you ingest and absorb through your skin and breath can have a vast impact on the way you think, the way you feel and your overall health and vitality ……. seriously, you can live a pain free drug free life if only you know precisely what chemicals and foods are upsetting your system …. it could be something as simple as lactose intolerance or an intolerance to processed sugar or wheat …… given that you have sinus issues i would definitely suspect lactose intolerance first ….. ditch the milk and dairy products for 3 days and see how you then feel ….. increase your intake of leafy and green vegies, broccolli, kale, chard, buk choy, celery, organic nuts and seeds like almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds during that period as they are all rich in calcium and magnesium and are way easier to assimilate anyway ….. disorders from which people suffer due to intolerances to food or chemicals in their diets can cover almost the whole spectrum of physical and mental illnesses ….. an extraordinary concept but mind blowingly true……. do yourself a favor and go and get allergy tested if you can’t pinpoint the cause.
in the meantime, try to eat as much whole fresh foods that you prepare yourself that includes a wide range of leafy and green vegies, some low sugar fresh fruits like watermelon, pears and strawberries, some lean meats and fishes, brown rice, organic nuts and seeds like almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds and lots of fresh filtered water ………. feed your body from God’s table and wean yourself off any highly processed, highly refined sugary and packagedsludge that you eat that has little to no nutritional value anyway.
Other causes for headaches could be calcium deficiency firstly. Do you also suffer with insomnia, achy bones, irritability and moodiness, digestive issues such as bloating and constipation?? If so these are all symptoms of calcium deficiency ……. try drinking some organic rice milk fortified with calcium or eat more leafy and green vegies (rich in calcium) and eat more low sugar fresh fruit (also rich in calcium)……….. try eating a carrott…… they are rich in calcium and a natural way to bust a headache…… good for helping with elimination too.
Foods rich in magnesium will also help to alleviate headaches and migraines, nervous tension, stress, muscle twitching, constipation and help to lower high blood pressure ………. leafy and green vegies again….. also wholegrain breads and cereals like brown rice and fresh fish like tuna, sardines and salmon are rich in magnesium.
Iron deficieny can also cause nasty slapping headaches ………. other symptoms of iron deficiency anemia are paleness of skin, dizzy spells, excessive feelings of being cold, fatigue and exhaustion ……. eat more brown rice, leafy and green vegies, lentils, oatmeal, lean meats, organic peanuts if this is the case.
Failing all that eat some of the white meat of the chicken …… rich in vitamin B3 …….vitamin B3 has been shown to alleviate headaches and migraines …… don’t supplement with any of the B complex of vitamins individually though …….. if you choose to take a supplement, rather take them as a whole complex as they work best as a group… ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B!2 and folic acid etc………… they’ll help you to better deal with the everyday dose of stress we are all exposed to at some level.
Have you been drinking enough water?? You could just be dehydrated…….. If not, drink up luv… your body needs at least 2 – 3 litres of water daily……… and ditch the sodas and pop if you drink any cos they’ll dehydrate you terribly and wash out your B complex of vitamins …….. as will caffeine and alcohol.
Also, it could simply be that you are intolerant to a body perfume, air spray, chemical cleaner, bath soap or hair wash that you may be using……;0)

I have migraines daily- so i feel your pain. I take prescriptions.
Topamax- this is a migraine preventive aka a seizure medication
Imitrex- when I get a headache, it really helps, but you can only take one pill every 24 hrs, due to risk of stroke.
Cymbalta- anxiety medication
Wellbutrin-anxiety medication
The combination works to help with them. I also take Tylenol 3. I rotate the meds for my migraines, because you can get immune to one medication.
You will have to go to a physican to the prescriptions for these meds.
Hope you feel better.
when i was younger i used to have constant headaches and i was recomended to go on a multi vitamin tablet which seemed to work… now i get them due to lack of water… but then that ones my fault, just make sure you’re not dehidrated
the other option is paracetamol or co-codamol (paracetamol and codiene)… almost always works for me and is the most common drug given for headaches in the UK
one option is that they could be being caused by something you’re eating/drinking maybe cutting different things out of your diet for periods of time and seeing if it has any effect could be an option for you
other option which may sound really wierd is to get a piece of amethyst and place it between your eyebrows and lay down with your arms by your side… it worked for me and i’ve used it several times since… it may be a good idea to look up some more information on the net about gem healing as it’ll take to long for me to explain it all now without making it confusing… if the headache is only light it only took about 5 minutes for it to go in my case and it took over half an hour for with a migraine but each person is different
hope that helps
Hi
I use to suffer the terrible headache associated with stress, tension, and sinus an allergy problems.
After years of massage, chiropractic treatments, prescription and over the counter medication I was lucky to learn about Reiki and other forms of natural healing.
When the emotional body is out of balance the reaction or symptoms appear in the physical body.
Reiki heals on all levels Physically, Mentally and Emotionally and Spriitually and is excellent for pain relief.
Today many hospitals allow Reiki healing which is safe effective and totally natural.
Today I live pain free from Reiki and I love it.
A Reiki session is quick and affordable. It takes around one hour and it allows all tension to fall away. Reiki is also very easy to learn so you could learn Reiki and heal yourself every night whilst you sleep which is what I did eventually.
Following Reiki you will feel energised and wonderful and sleep like a baby.
Living with constant pain as you do is very tireing and makes you feel exhausted all the time.
When you live with constant pain you do not sleep well or deeply relaxed either so this is why Reiki is so good..
Regular sessions of massage, reflexology and indian head massage are also excellent you people suffering with these symptions.
I like you found no cure with Doctors and medication. I tried the nutrition allergy adjustments and avoiding foods etc but this was a long and rather difficult path finding out what suited me, and I found I couldn’t foods I love.
With Reiki I eat what I want and the pain is gone.
I hope this gives you insights into other methods of healing and pain relief.
lol

Try seeing a chiropractor. A simple adjustment can bring relief to many headache sufferers.
Green tea will cure a headache….the tea bag kind. I discovered this about 5 years ago. I drink a cup a day as a preventative and I have not had a headache in 5 years. I don’t know why or how it works, I just know it does work!
Feverfew, or red peppers, will cure migraines, or other headaches. You could also put lavender oil on your temples and forehead before sleeping, if you have a mild headache just before bed. Good luck!
homeopathic nat.murx30 with belladonna30x , five under the tongue at first signs works well …
also traditional chinese medicine cinidium by seven forests…
However, I agree with the others that you have to find food allergies, chemical, sensativities,(most likely a naturopathic, chiropractic, or homeopathic to test for sensativties, because regular docs dont test for them) make the changes, and if it were me, I’d find out how much at risk for circulation vein artery problems I was, like stroke potential…
You have to find the root cause of them….look into traditional chinese medicine
oh man I feel ur pain..I have had migraines for 40 some years now and I take cymbalta, diazapam, & vicodin for them..of course my tolerance is very high, so I am able to mix these together..but u need to get to a dr and get some treatment..there is NO reason for u to have to suffer
Stay away from chinese food because chinese food has MSG Monosodium glutamate and this causes headaches; take vitamin B-Complex and vitmain C; plus Vitaman C; plus Melatonin.
