What could be the cause of frequent headaches?
I get headaches almost four times a week, during the school year but not so often during the summer. Sometimes I wake up with a headache, but it feels different. It doesn’t feel like the other headaches. When I’m washing my hair sometimes, I notice spots on my head that hurt to the touch. They usually go away after a few days. Sometimes it hurts to chew and I’d rather not eat. What could be causing this? I feel like I can’t get anything done because of this.
It doesn’t hurt my teeth or anything in my mouth when I chew, it hurts an area near my temples.

Frequent headaches can be a debilitating problem, detracting significantly from quality of life. The medical community breaks headaches into a system of categories, with primary headaches accounting for the vast majority of headaches. Cluster and secondary headaches are far rarer, but can present the patient with severe pain and more serious neurological issues. Although never life threatening, primary headaches can still cause a serious level of discomfort, infringing on quality of life in many cases. Frequent headaches, even milder primary ones, can possibly hinder daily life.
How can frequent headaches be prevented? That depends on the source of the headaches. Primary headaches are frequently a symptom of tension, and can become frequent if the circumstances responsible are a regular part of life. Tension headaches are brought about when the patient undergoes significant emotional or physical stress. This kind of stress causes the muscles that cover the skull to contract, resulting in pain from the pressure. This can be hard to treat at times. Over the counter medications usually work well to alleviate some of the issue.
Prevention is more about finding the situations that prompt headache and avoiding them. This kind of stress results directly in the contraction that is known to cause headache, subsequently causing sometimes serious headaches. Frequent headaches should be a signal that some life adjustments are needed. If emotional stress is thought to be behind them, consider visiting a doctor about this stress, or making lifestyle alterations that reduce the stress.
Frequent headaches that strike at random can be a sign of a more serious secondary problem. In these situations, a structural or chemical problem in the brain is to blame for the pain. This can signify a serious issue, like a chemical imbalance in the brain. Although this is rarely the cause, frequent headaches are a sign that doctor visit is in order.
Over the counter medications usually do a great deal to relieve a primary headache. Aleve and ibuprofen work very well to treat primary headaches. In more serious cases, some therapy may be needed to overcome the pain associated with frequent headaches. If none of these measures are effective, a specialist should be consulted. Yeah I have it to its called migraine headaches u get it when you break your sleeping pattern.Go see your doctor to check it out.
I would defintely see a dr soon. With having recurring headaches you need to find the cause of them and get treatment so you aren;t in pain so much. Also you might wanted to get your vision checked.
I have the same problem as you. I have noticed, though, that my headaches are usually not as bad if I am drinking lots of water and if i eat meals regularly. Some days I won’t eat lunch for lack of time and I will get extremely bad headaches. I would suggest a regular diet and drinking lots of water. It might help to keep a journal of what you were doing when you got the headache and then you might see a correlation between your headaches and whatever is causing them.

sleep….you say in summer there better ?..in summer do you have to wake up early to go to school or to work ?…no try to get more sleep if your under 16 you have to get at least 9 hours of sleep hope it helps! = )
Some foods can cause frequent headaches, such as chocolate, cheese, and nuts.
Have you had your furnace checked? Do you have a carbon monoxide detector? It might be carbon monoxide poisoning.
A tooth problem (cavity, root canal, etc.) can cause the pain when chewing and the headaches (though would not explain the spots). I would see a dentist.
The other thing to consider is allergies. Are you trying a new shampoo or fabric softener? Maybe do you have a problem with parasites? Worth seeing a doctor about. That might explain the spots (though less likely to explain the chewing problem – but you might just have both at the same time).
i had this when i was in middle school, i would have frequent headaches and when i would rub my head or scratch it for some reason it was very tender, and then later on i would wake up and when i was laying doesn’t in my bad i would “black out” in a since everything went black and my eyes were wide open, i told my mom about it and she took me to the doctor and they said that it wasn’t anything to be scared of, and really what may be the cause of it is stress at home school or work, not getting enough sleep, not eating right. there can ba a number of things but i would say just go to the doctor and check it out just in case.. hope that you feel better …
There are so many types of headaches it would be hard to pick one without know more, since I am not a doctor but do have frequent migraines, and TMJ i would say the hurting to chew could be from the muscles in your jaw are sprained, it could be from grinding your teeth at night. Your headaches could be from eye strain, stress, cluster headaches, too much caffeine, your jaw could hurt from chewing gum, opening your mouth too wide while yawning, it happened to me, can’t chew gum. So I would see your doctor. Since it could be so many different things.
What you are describing sounds like bruxism. It is a very common condition that results from clenching your teeth. You may notice that you do this throughout the day, but most people do it while they’re sleeping. This would explain both the headache and the pain to your teeth. Many times people explain the pain as being specific to the biting surface of their teeth although some report pain throughout the entire jaw.
You have a couple of options. You can go to your dentist and have a mold taken of your teeth from which they will create a guard you sleep with. Or you can go to Target or another retailer and purchase a one-size-fits-all mouth guard on the toothpaste/floss aisle. These tend to work just about as good as one created by a dentist and are MUCH cheaper. Look up bruxism on wikipedia or a search engine. Believe me, this is probably the cause of your problem.
i get them everyday. sounds like your problems may be like mine. stress + tmj. see a doctor and oral surgeon. you may be grinding your teeth or clenching so when you wake up you feel pain in you head and around the jaw?
