What sinus headache medication can I take during pregnancy?
I have a really bad sinus headache. Tylenol isn’t working. I was wondering if any pregnant women out there took Sudafed and have been fine. I also would like to know if any pregnant women out there took TheraFlu and been OK too…
Thank you

I was told ABSOLUTELY none, suck it up is what the doctors told me i was out of work for 2 weeks.
Hope you feel better <=(
tylenol, but don’t take my advice. Ask a doctor because there might be side effects in your condition.
I was told by my doctor JUST Tylonol or Benedryl. The best advice is to get a med list from your doctor. Mine gave me one, but Sudafed was on the “no” list. Mine was tailored for me though.
I have really bad seasonal allergies which give me sinus headaches if I don’t take medicine. I normally take allegra which is a drug that they are unsure if it will affect the baby or not so I don’t take it. The doctor told me to take claratin. She said this would not harm the baby. I’ve been told don’t take sudafed in the first trimester, but it’s fine in the second and third trimester. Try the link below, it tells which meds are safe while you’re pregnant. Good luck and Congratulations!
Some doctors are OK with Sudafed, and some aren’t. I would call your doctor and ask. If you’re not OK with it, they can call you in a prescription for something that they do feel comfortable with you using.
Unfortunately the only thing you can take is Tylenol – you’ll be ok if you take the other stuff, but your baby might not be and that’s just too much of a risk…I’m pregnant too & get horrible allergies and get dizzy and sick to my stomach every time it pollinates outside- not to mention the horrible headaches! I haven’t touched Sudafed even though it’s the only thing that’s ever worked for me. It’s tough being pregnant, there are many sacrifices you have to make during these 9 months but remembering that taking the wrong drug can harm your baby for the rest of it’s life really puts things in perspective. Would you rather have the headache or watch your child struggle with a birth defect for the rest of it’s life? I’m afraid you’ll have to do it the old fashioned way – lay down in a dark place & put some ice packs on your head! If your head ache comes from allergies then get an air filter – I have the Kenmore one (only available through Sears, about $80) it works miracles! If the pollen is really bad outside I just turn it on high for the whole day & stay indoors as much as I can. If your headache is from a cold or sinus problems then prevention is the best way – get a room humidifier to keep your sinuses moisturized (if they’re dry you are more likely to get sick). I’m a very sickly person so I had to be extremely careful during the cold & flu season when I first got pregnant. I used the saline nasal spray at least 5 times a day (keep those nasal passages moist!!! – I know it doesn’t make sense but trust me!) and when you get home from work turn on the kettle and breathe the steam in through your nose with a towel over your head, it will loosen up everything so you can blow it out – but careful – not too close to the steam or you will burn your face! Bottom line, peolple can tell you it’s ok to take & do anything during your pregnancy – but if they’re wrong they’re not the ones who will have to raise your child with special needs, so tough it out if you’re not dying. I hope this helps – be strong (for your little one) and good luck!!!!
Call a pharmacist and find out.
